Nope -- we are waiting for Dear Joyce to come and lead us into battle with Cool Whip spray bottles....

Cool whip comes in spray cans? Excellent.

I thought only James Bond and Comic book villains "monologue"

Apparently not. It's quite exciting, in a somewhat burlesque fashion.

so i told you how i got my name because you made an incorrect assumption about it.

gonna tell me how you got yours, or want us to just assume that you use it because you have an annoying accent and claim to be something you aren't?

See, here's the thing, no one asked you why you chose that applet. Some made connections that remain valid even with your 'explanation' but, you don't get that, in the same way that you don't get why some people find you funny or annoying or a combination of both.

Seriously dude, this is not a therapy session, I don't want to know all this 'stuff' about you.

so you just want to attack me personally, and are afraid to take a position that is identifiable.

no wonder you are a terrorist sympathiser.

Oh, there's a much easier explanation for that

so the name goes back about 20 years. in the early 80's i had a job that involved shooting at moving targets and was regarded as good at it. when i left that job i took up paper punching in search of accuracy, and with good result. it was theraputic to shoot without pressure, pure, in a way.

on afternoon i was at a range shooting paper targets with a remington 600 bolt action rifle in 308 win caliber. the rifle and i had spent a lot of time together, and i had experimented with reloads tailored for it, glass bedded the barrel channel and lugs, etc. i had about $400 in the package, but lots of time with it.

some fellows showed up and spread $2000 rigs out on the benches next to my friend and i. weatherbys, sakos, whatever, all with heavy glass. immediately they said they were woodchuck hunters and asked what we hunted. my friend said he was a squirrel hunter, and i said i was just a shooter.

the newbs picked out a manila target, and selected red, green, and blue 1" discs to stick on it for aiming points, and offered me the yellow one. damned close to manila, and i had a 4X, while they were wearing 6X24 heinsoldt and such over 224 weatherby mag and 22-250 or 220 swift.

i watched the first shots go out from the sandbagged "woodchuck hunters" through an old pair of 16X naval binocs. each of the 3 nimrods printed a 3-4" diameter 5 shot group from a full rest. come my turn, i took the first shot from a sandbag, the second sitting on the shooting bench with knees drawn up, the third kneeling, the fourth prone, and the fifth offhand.

i looked at the target thru the binocs to confirm what the scope had said. none of the newbs had binocs, so we walked up to the target together. my five shots were in a cluster that would have been under a dime, with the fifth a flyer opening the group to just over an inch. my buddy said, "he's just a shooter", and we left the range. he told the story to some friends, and the name kind of stuck, when i first hit the net some years later after a friend signed me onto a shooting sports forum that no longer exists it was the name he chose.

distance to the targets?

my guess for the wide groups on the above was too hot a load.

It's funny to me when people wanna ban "too much ammo" or "too many guns."

Last time I checked, most of us only had two hands. Folks who shoot guns will tell you those two hands are usually used at the same time to fire only one gun. For some reason, people are led to believe that anyone who owns a large quantity of guns is "more dangerous" than someone who only owns one. Shooters will tell you to "fear the man with only one gun" for he knows how to use it. Someone else must be pushing this "more guns = more danger" theory. Who could that be?

"Too much ammo." Hmm. That's interesting. I wonder, of all the accidental deaths, of all the criminal shootings, gang warfare, and if we really wanna inflate our numbers we'll include police shootings as well, how many of those who were shot were shot with more than only a couple bullets? Is someone "more dead" if you shoot them with more shots? Yet, here we go again, "if someone has 20,000 rounds of ammo out in their shed, they're a nutjob or they're 'more crazy' than someone who only has 20 rounds of ammo." Where does that come from?

You as a logical person can understand that one person with one gun can be extremely dangerous. But, why does one person with 100 guns and 10,000 rounds of ammo cause "huge concern" in the community?

Where does that come from?

Why would anyone want us to be afraid of someone who owns stuff that can't possibly make him, as one man, any more dangerous than he already is? Why?

Because that one man can arm the rioters. Because that one man can empower the angry mob from a group of angry people with sticks and bats to a group of angry people with rifles and ammo. Because that one man can pose a serious threat to his government once he educates his neighbors that bearing arms isn't something to be afraid of, but something to be proud of.

There was a time in this country when Americans used to be proud of bearing arms. When government asked instead of told. When we didn't discuss trillion dollar economic bailouts of corrupt companies. Somewhere along the way we started "buying into" everything. Kind of funny how that coincided with most of us "losing" our arms.

For those of you who don't get it or just simply refuse to accept it, don't worry. I have more than one gun and only two hands. I have some extra ammo too, just in case. I pray you'll never ever need it and I wasted my money on it. But, for your sake, and the sake of those who refused to give up their Rights on Apr. 19, 1775, I went ahead and invested in more than what I could effectively use all by myself. America, I did it for you.

Slim the question about "too many guns" was in relation to a specific incident and a man who is suffering from and undefined mental illness.

Its reasonable to question whether his "stress induced paranoia" has anything to do with his hoarding an arsenal of guns and ammo, especially in light of the fact that almost every rampage shooter (including the guy at Virginia tech) had some form of mental illness or disturbed behaviour.

100 yards. Public range in a county park in south central Penna.

Their patterns were more likely result of flinch. Needless to say, the woodchucks in York County were safe from these guys.

IIRC, I was shooting Speer 165 grs boat tail in scaled Lake City cases with a CCI 500 standard primer and about 42 grains Hodgdon BL-C2 powder. Ball-C2 was designed for the case with 147 gr spitzer, so the load was close to design ideal. The fun load was 46 grains of H335 with a 130 grain spitzer. Smoking, even out of an 18" barrel. I usually held a few of those in case someone shooting autoloader sat on my left and started throwing cases at me. Would get just about anybody to move away.

So is this man, with an undefined mental illness more dangerous now that he has "many guns" or "too much ammo?" Once again, I'd like to point out that unless this guy had more than two hands, he's no more of a threat with "more guns and ammo" than if he only had one gun and just a little bit of ammo. Someone's mental well-being has nothing to do with the amount of hands they have.

Its reasonable to question whether his "stress induced paranoia" has anything to do with his hoarding an arsenal of guns and ammo, especially in light of the fact that almost every rampage shooter (including the guy at Virginia tech) had some form of mental illness or disturbed behaviour.

Sure, that's a reasonable question. Maybe he was hoarding for "the wrong reasons." But, once again, I have to ask, why is that guy any more dangerous than the Virginia Tech guy who only had two pistols and a handful of ammo?

I can think of a few reasons:

Bigger?

Stronger?

More highly trained?

A better shot?

Or more simply... Bigger guns...

By the way,,,, whats a good website to shop for discount ammo, given the current situation, it might be wise to boost my meager supply.

Mostly looking for some for my cheap, yet comfortable SKS.
