Does that mean that in some states there are limits on what one can own?

Some of the more braggy posters better keep their lips buttoned methinks :)

Thats a good question.

I have never heard of a limit.

as long as all gun laws are complied with, I don't think there is a legal problem but as with this case, people who mass weapons like this also have an interest in illegal items such as this guy...THE HAND Grenade.

The locals can also make a case against someone for safely violations (large amounts of gun powder).

Of course any defender of the Bill Of Rights would ask.... Do we limit books or speech?

THEN WHY WOULD WE LIMIT THE 2ND AMDMT?

Books generally don't explode or otherwise pose a health risk when stacked in large numbers.

neither do guns.

To some, books can be more dangerous than guns. Specially those that interpret constitutional texts the way they see fit.

from a tactical standpoint, holding up in your house in fear of rioters is the worst thing you can do. you will get burned out, for sure.

you are much better off taking a forward position (minimum of 200M, but within line of sight), keeping the violence (and attention) away from your home. all persons with the appropriate training understand this. getting joe law to allow you to take such a course, or a judge to support it in court, is another matter. suffice to say there is a place and time for current issue multicam and equipment that approximates the current issue as closely as possible. of course, wearing of unit identification is a big no-no, and a balaclava is advised. a minimum of 4 persons so attired and equipped will turn just about any mob in another direction. A gpmg on bipod is a guarrantee.

am i set to play this game? sure, i have the multiple M4 and gpmg, and multicams for myself, my wife, and my boys (24 and 18). will i need to, living in a farm house 10 miles from the nearest sizeable town? prolly not. for such reason, an F150 painted in the M880 camo pattern creates a credible mobile platform.

I'm not gonna lie, I got a little bit of a chubby reading that.

It does come across as a tad insane - but then I guess it's merely an extension of the 'look at me, don't I have a big willy?' syndrome.

It's one thing to have a Corvette, quite another to have piece of mind. Bragging, bravado, machismo.... call it what you want, but the fact is there are sometimes things that happen on this earth that are so horrible, so horrendous, even unconceivable for most to fathom.... but they do exist. Once you have a true understanding of what is detailed above

I'm just going to go ahead and save my keystrokes.

When the riots happen, the government doesn't want you to be ready. Why?

Enough guns and ammunition to outfit a small army were seized this week from the home of a former Vineland police officer here in a raid sparked by the investigation into a burglary at a farm in Salem County.

Nearly 260 guns, half a million rounds of ammunition and a live hand grenade were discovered at the Rosemont Avenue home of Brian Hinkle.

New Jersey State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones said the 500,000 rounds secured from a house, two out buildings and a septic tank converted into a bunker is "the largest cache of ammunition we have probably ever seen."

...

The discovery of the mini-arsenal is particularly disturbing for investigators. They're still not sure what he was doing with all that firepower.

"What's it all about, is the biggest question on my mind," said [Detective] Peterson.

Maybe this guy was saying to himself, "there are Americans all around me who just don't get it. I guess I'll go ahead and save enough for them too because maybe, just maybe, once the need arises for such things, they'll come to me and ask if they can borrow what I've got. Maybe I'll be able to help them save themselves. If we're really lucky, maybe it'll work out to where we're all able to save each other. If we're super lucky, maybe we'll be able to preserve our little slice of America."

There are limits on everything depending on where you are. However, if you read the 2nd Amendment, there's something in there about "shall not be infringed." But, anyway, there's also this thing called the 4th Amendment, (which I'm not expecting you to have ever heard of either) that prohibits someone from digging up your septic tank full of ammo without probable cause. Even though the FBI now wastes millions of dollars a day on "monitoring" Internet content, I hardly think a little "bragging" on VJ is PC (that's probable cause, not politically correct, btw) for a warrant. Something about the 1st Amendment in there somewhere......

The two biggest dicks on VJ?

given that you don't understand small unit tactics, maybe you should learn. ;)

I'll take my "small unit" full of "big ####### VJ members" any day over a whole angry mob full of rioters whether they're armed or not. As Charles! points out, if you understood small unit tactics, you'd have absolutely ZERO fear of a riot. (And only a slight fear, probably more of an adoration for "small unit" VJ members!)

Or maybe the guy purchased the ammo/firearms when the prices were low. Now prices have become much higher and are expected to continue the trend. Could it be this cache was his "money buried in mason jars in the backyard" ... the sale of which would probably offset the loses in his 401k/ home value/ retirement fund.

humm ... given this thought ... did the local gov't just steal his nest egg?

6 pounds of black powder adn 36 pounds of smokeless propellant is a standard that is widely applied. any more than this should be liscensed and stored in accordance with DOT regulations in regard to containers and building structure. containers and building structure should be designed to allow the gasses from combustion to escape unimpeded, as much as possible, to keep the conversion in the combustion phase, rather than allowing it to accelerate into the explosive phase. black is easy to push, but smokeless requires secure containment to accomplish the transformation. secure containment could be as little as a counter pressure wave, under exactly the worst circyumstances.

speaking as a guy who purchased 20,000 rounds of 8X57 yugo 1950's surp ammo when century was selling it for a nickle a pop delivered, and who has recently sold it for 25-30 cents a round after less than 3 years storage, i wish i had gone all out and bought several pallets (30K on a pallet) at the pallet price (30% discount). oh well, did almost as well on the AK parts kits and etc. still have a stack of 70's romanian 8X57, anyway. gotta feed the 1919's.

most states allow storage of 750,000 rounds small arms ammo without liscense (there is a federal reg that invokes that number). i'm in pennsylvania. i bought the stuff for my belt fed machine guns because it was really cheap. i bought the romanian surp a year or so later so the yugoslavian stuff was "surplus" to me. in the meantime, a third world dictator lead coalition in the UN sponsored the adoption of an initiative that will now use my tax dollars to pay 2nd world governments to blow up their surplus ammo, rather than sell it to me at a profit. because of this initiative, the price of surp quadrupled, on average, between 2006 and 2008. becuase of this initiative, 3rd world dictators are a little less likely to be deposed by the method through which they obtained position.

the new jersey story is a little more than is reported here. i have been following it for a few days. the guy is an ex-cop on psych disability for stress induced paranoia. he hasn't been committed, but is signed off as permanently disabled. he has a NJ firearms owners card, and the cops believe his gun collexion is legitimate. the "hand grenade" is inert, just like the training purpose copy i have on my desk on a wood placque with the words "take a number" and a number attached to the fuse pin. they will prolly get him on the improper storage of powder issue, as he had too much black powder. he may also burn for his relationship with some guys who were suspect in gun thefts. in NJ, and a resisting arrest charge.
