Any ideas when I can expect a call or letter from the good folks at the Embassy?

Have you thought about the CR1? Using the shortcuts, people have been getting through the NVC in about 4 to 6 weeks.

I am doing both the K3 and CR1 route and I hope that I will be complete at the NVC with my I-130 while we are waiting to go to the K3 interview, then I can get the K3 interview changed to a CR1 interview.

I will consider the CRI in about a month. For now, I'll run with both at a slower pace. If the current pace keeps up I will have to activate the shortcuts.

The rumor is that CR1 interviews have a much longer waiting period--at least in Cambodia. Plus, I know people that have faced problems with NVC losing original documents, birth certificates, etc...

Now you understand my position. I'm not very confident with our govt workers. I'm not confident that NVC will complete before K3 approval. My good freinds have had docs lost for over a year now. Everything is still tied up at NVC.

I would prefer that she doesn't have to go through the interview more than once. I think the K3 and later adjustment status is best.

I don't mind paying an extra $1000. The risk of NVC losing paperwork and the way embassy workers in Cambodia operate makes me want the least hassle.

It's disappointing that I can't even call or email for help without getting canned voicemail menus. I once heard that Cambodia handles over 6000 cases a year. Well that's about 20 a day. 800 workers at the US Embassy and they can't handle 20 cases a day?

I'm still optomistic nonetheless. Your case and mine have been processed at lightning speed. It takes time getting used to slow pace.
