Today, I am not posting this note regarding a personal issue, however, it is very important to me. I have a very good friend that just got her fiance visa and she is coming to NH by middle june. Unfortunately, she was asking me if she can get her work authorization in any other airport besides JFK...but I don't know. We are trying to find out that so she doesn't have to come to NY and then go to NH...I think may be somebody can help me to help my friend. They have been through a lot and I am just trying to make things a little bit easier.

THANKS FOR ANY HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

Catherine

She can ask at the POE but generally its only given out at JFK (some others have gotten it at other ports) - In my opinion its useless for most of us - because it expires when your I94 expires and then you have to wait for your EAD or greencard (and you must quit if you were working on the EAD stamp). Good Luck

K1 visa holder must have EAD (Employment Authorization Document) and SSN to work. They are eligible for EAD but must first obtain it.

The fact that K-1 is work authorized ONLY means that K-1 holder is eligible to receive an Employment Authorization Document. It does not mean that you are automatically authorized to work. K-1 holders still an EAD to be able to work.

Read this information, on the How to file for EAD Guide.

As a K-1 Visa Holder you may receive a temporary EAD at the Point of Entry (POE). This has however become very uncommon and the only known POE that (and not always) issues these is JFK International Airport. If they do issue you a temporary EAD it will expire on the date that your K-1 expires (90 days from entry on your K-1). (Where: at the POE only)

OP, your friend can always ask at the POE, but if you read the reviews you'll see that there really isn't other POE that will her the stamp.

I'm with Motu, even if she got the EAD stamp at any other airport other than JFK, for most people it is useless unless she already has a job waiting for her and they don't mind having her for only a few weeks until her EAD card is approved. The reason being is because of the timing, she will get her SS # in about two weeks after entering, then she will need to get married, then file for AOS and EAD, and by the time she gets the final EAD card her 90 day stamp would have expired long ago and most employers don't want to deal with that.

THANKS EVERYBODY FOR YOUR ANSWERS. In our case it is a little bit different because we both we aupairs in the US before so we already have ssn. I believe that her fiance got her a job already. And if she gets the stamp, she will be able to work until she gets marry. That is how it happen to me. I work in one my old jobs for about 2 months and a half before I got married.

However, the big question was if the stamp is giving somewhere else...because right now coming from Peru to here through JFK is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to expensive. The cheapest way is Boston.

I will check the reviews.

THANKS AGAINNNNNNNNNNNNN
