staying on post during vacation???

Hey guys,

Does anybody know if there is any problem if I visit my husband(he is a soldier and lives on post) and stay with him on post? Actually it is not allowed for anyone to stay over night in the barracks (he still has a barracks room). So is there a difference when he is married and his wife comes to visit him?

I would appreciate any advice

there was a rule. but, he could get family quaters since you are family. it wont be expensive at all

Thanks for reply, what are family quaters??? Sorry I dont know that word. By the way his orders are not amended yet that he is married. Does that make any difference in order to my intention to stay on post? I already have my military ID that allows me to go on post etc.

I think your husband should change his status to "Married" as soon as possible. He is entitled to BAH (Housing Allowance) and all sorts of things. That way he could look for apartments out in town (since you are going to move there anyways that would be a smart move), and put his name on the government housing list (he won't get BAH in this case, because government housing is for free). Depending on where he is stationed, he might get in in a little over a month... sometimes waiting times are more than a year.

I don't know about the barracks though... but I think he could find out for you since you two are married.

Many military posts have transient lodging facilities at very reasonable daily/weekly rates primarily for newly arriving or soon departing families. These are generally on a space available basis. Have him check with the post lodging office for availability and rates.
