Usually from what I saw from the offices here in NJ: The interview letter comes around a month and a half after your EAD was sent to you and the interview is a month after from the date of arrival. I think my interview letter should arrive next month and I should get my interview in Dec.

Well if that's right then we should be interviewed the same week seeing that we both got our EAD days after each other..

I also received my EAD on Oct 14th and my local office is Mount Laurel NJ. Guess our interviews be around the same time. Im travelling to Pakistan in November though on AP.

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone else is in the same position as me... I checked the case status online for my AOS application and the status date has not changed since we sent it in, it's still saying August. If I click on it, it says it's at the National Benefits Center. I haven't gotten any emails from them or anything. Just hoping all is OK with it. Being impatient I guess.

Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

My wife's AP and EAD were approved on Monday, just now checked USCIS on a whim, and we've been approved! Whoo!

Still waiting on AOS itself, but it was transferred and last touched on the 7th. I really thought that meant they would just approve that without a need for EAD/AP, but still, this is nice to have :)

Got EAD on 10/3 and went to tramit change of name on SSN, our information was not updated in their database, they received the application and said that they will send in the mail as soon as they verify; got letter in the mail today confirming verification and that new card will be mailed in two weeks.

I had same problem at DMV when applying for drivers license.

Sylvia

Hi jeff & Sylvia congrats with your SSn. YOu said you had a problem with DMV when aplying for driver's license. Do you need to undergo the driving test both written adn behind the wheel? When did the problem occur when you are about to apply to pay for the driver's license or after you pass the behind the wheel test? Because I was able to pay for both state id and driver's license and passed the written test already , will take the driving test on nov 7, so if i dont have my SSN by that time , eventhough i pass for example , they won't issue me a driver's license? I just applied for SSN last week october 15 btw. Or if I have a printed certificate of my SSN will they issue me a driver's license provided i pass the behind the wheel test? ty

hi richo!

i actually wanted to ask you about that. weren't you asked for your ss number when you applied/took the written test at dmv? if so, could it be because you have a k1 visa as oppose to having a k3 visa? now, i'm kinda confused.

i've an appointment this friday and i'm thinking of rescheduling it since my ssn has yet to arrive.

thanks:)

We'll you know I am too. Since that same day I applied for SSn first then go to DMV (CA) and applied for state id and driver's license and I just signed the part where it says I don't have ssn yet but i will give it one i have it in my hand. Then I took the test then they I have the behind the wheel scheduled on nov. 7. ANd by that time, I will have my SSN with me so I will handed it to them before I take the test. What state and city is that? Do you think its different per state and city?

Question....my husbands SS card states that he needs authorization to work, does yours say that?

He is having trouble getting a job he applied for because they don't accept that social security because it has the text on it. He even showed them the EAD and they still won't take it. Isn't this weird?

Anyway, we went to the SS office to see what we could do and they said that they could only change the card when he gets his green card.

AOS TIMELINE

07/29/08 - AOS and EAD sent to Chicago

That's normal. Until the greencard comes, the SS card will be restricted, so he'll need authorization from DHS.

It's not normal that potential employers won't accept it with an EAD. An EAD is exactly what the restriction is asking for... DHS authorization. The EAD is issued by DHS (Dept of Homeland Security), it even says so at the very very top.
