Hi everyone,

I went with my wife today to have her biometrics done as walk-in. They did not ask a question, looked at the NOA, stamped it and went inline to have a number to be called in. The guy who took us in was very nice, did the fingurprints and took her picture as well.

My question now is: everyone on VJ is talking about case touched and checked online for stattus. Please let us know how to do that and how we can register for updated or chek online foe case status...

Thanks in advance

Biometrics all done. :) Probably the only efficient office we will deal with (we were there for about 15 minutes). I haven't seen a touch on our case yet, but it is Saturday after all, so maybe we won't see one till Monday.

I think we are "Out of status" but is not illegal (that's how my husband and others call it). It only means either we are awaiting for AOS and/or getting our paperwork done or waiting for results.

I gave up on trying to sleep and I'm glad I got up to check this thread. Thank you so much for replying.

Sho' thang. :D I should really be in bed now too though!

So the EAD I applied for in conjunction with my AOS package was the C9 type, which is good for 1 year, during which the wheels of my green card are in motion, and then when my green card arrives, I apply to lift conditions once we've been married for 2 years, at which point I get a 10 year green card, is that correct?

I'm not sure about C9 -- I'm just not familiar with that, but you could totally be right -- but yes, it's good for one year. In the (unlikely?) event that your green card takes more than a year to come, you can apply for another EAD for another year. And then, yes on the other stuff, as far as I know.

Another point of confusion is what status I will have once my K-1 expires. Presumably I won't be here illegally as I've already filed for AOS, but will no longer be a K-1; what exactly are we post-NOA1 AOSers?

I'm not sure what the status would be called (someone here knows I'm sure), but not illegal as long as you're married.

Okay, I'm going to bed! ;)

My burning question is: Can you walk in to have biometrics done if you have not received an appointment yet? Next week is my last week off before preplanning (I'm a teacher), and we have transportation issues. It would be great if we could get that taken care of before I go back to school.

Dawn

No i don't think so, they need your appointment letter, the reason why you need it, is the bar code it needs to be scanned to sign you up in the system, and the officer at the application support center needs to stamp your letter.

Thank you, Thank you and Thank you guys all. you are all very supportive and willing to share your experience. In turn, it helps others to feel comfortable dealing with the USCIS tricks and sometimes confusing paperworks.

BTW, I have already registered online at the same site you guys gave me the link too, I thought there is another site or back door in obtaining case status......

I will update you guys on my case as soon as I can add my recipt numbers, as of right now I can not add them for some reason.... any thoughts?

Thanks again

You need to create a Timeline (here) and click Edit / Add my Entry or at least tell us the date you got you NOAs so we can help you.

but don't worry about that it happens sometimes just wait some days and you can check you cases online, probably after you do your biometrics.
