Hi everyone! I've had the interview today. The officer was really nice. She asked for the evidence of our marriage and I handled lots of paperwork to her. In the end she stopped me and was like "well it's enough we got lots of here already" so I forgot to give her our bank statements. And I've just recalled she didn't take my EAD back. Does it mean anything? Did somebody else went home with the EAD card? The officer said that needed to go through our file and we'd receive the answer in the mail.

Okay guys - I need some clarity or help here.

I had my interview in Detroit yesterday and it was confusing - I didn't know whether to be mad or glad.

So I get there, drop my letter in the pile and wait to be called. This lady with ashy blonde hair calls my name and me and my husband follow her to her cubicle. She sits us down, then tells us to stand to give an oath that we're telling the truth. She then rifles through my paperwork and asks me questions that I already said "no" to (all that jazz about how I'm not going to be a threat to the country) and makes me say NO to all of them aloud. (nodding wasn't considered "NO"). She then asks me when and where we got married, to present her with whatever evidence we had (not much - marriage license, shared credit card, insurance papers) and when I asked if she wanted to see pictures (I brought an album and a wedding scrapbook) - she said no. Then she rifles again thru the paperwork and asks about my medical - which she couldn't find. Well, I sure as heck didn't have it - seeing as how it was sent away the second it was completed. She ends up finding it and then gets down to business.

The woman asks about my sponsor Support person, who is my father in law. He owns his own business, so our CPA compiled all the necessary paperwork the USCIS needed. The lady says "I'm not sure why you would send me the company's tax forms, since you're not applying for an H-1 Visa" - which doesn't make sense b/c the company's tax information has to do with my father in law. Anyways, she get to the point that in '06, the company suffered a loss, and her concern was "How did your father in law get paid if the company suffered a loss". Don't people pay themselves even if the company suffers a loss?! And you find that out AFTER you've already paid yourself?!?!

I just didn't get why the interviewer was focusing SO MUCH on this. She actually wouldn't drop it either. After asking whatever other mundane questions she had about my father in law's taxes, she tells us to wait outside while she makes copies of stuff and gives me back the 06 tax papers for the company. We wait like, 10 mins for her to come back out to get us to sign some form saying how I'm responsible for applying again after our 2-yr anniversary (I wasn't paying much attention b/c I was wondering what the outcome was going to be). So then she's basically sending us off - but I stop her and ask what's going on - Did I get it or not?!! She replies by telling me that they're going to review my paperwork and see if they need further evidence (My father in law's paystubs - since I guess she can comprehend how he got paid in 2006!!). I mean, why didn't they hammer all these things out BEFORE sending me the letter?! So anyways, she says either they'll mail me the greencard or they'll mail me a letter saying they need more paperwork.

I left the stupid office flabbergasted. I couldn't believe how annoying this woman was (ashy blonde hair, glasses, a wooden pencil holder from Lebanon on her desk). I know I'll get the Greencard eventually (well, let's hope so - with my luck), but I just couldn't get over how the interview went in a direction TOTALLY different than what I was expecting. What does it matter about my father in law's financial business (he always got paid) NOW, when I can work now anyways?!

I keep on reading how ppl are getting approved left, right and center - so I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced the ####### I have.

I'm so damn frustrated right now!! :bonk:

Hey Jess&Andrew, I am so sorry to hear that your interview wasnt the greatest experience, and my wife and I had our interview 3 days ago in Cleveland, OH and we experienced the same thing that you guys did with your interviewer. We are both up in the air and dont know what is going on right now. I did post my interview experience, if you click on my name and click on posts, you will be able to find our experience. I tell you it was quite awful. It does sound like you guys did get approved, and it comes off as if, the woman who interviewed you guys was having a bad day which gives her no excuse to take it out on you guys. Just keep checking your USCIS account and email, you'll get approved. Think about it, other than for love only, why would anyone from Canada, UK,Ireleand and any other developed nation would come to the US just for a green card, standard of life is the same there than it is here.

I know I responded to your post, but here is the actual post to my interview experience below:

Hey guys, this is Canadian Made's wife, I'm going to jump in:) Here's how our interview experience went today.

Well, first, the interveiwer was very old and very procedural, so it seemed like she has been doing this for a long time.

She had a very soft voice and was hard to understand her and she also had accent, so it was hard to understand her.

We got asked the usual questions like, our names, our address, how and when we met, when we got married and where, who proposed to who, asked us to see wedding pictures, asked us who were the people in the pictures, asked me questions on the I-485 and G-325A form, stuff like that.

She just didn't seem to like any of our answers. I will give you a couple of examples.

Interviewer: "What assets do you guys have together?"

Me: "We have a joint checking account. We filed taxes jointly. He is my life insurance beneficiary of 120,000.00, and I cover him on my health insurance."

Interviewer: "When did you open this account?"

Me: "A few months ago."

Interviewer: "And how long have you been married?"

Me: "Almost a year."

Interviwer: "Why did you wait so long?"

Me: "I havn't even had a bank account for about ten years. I don't like them or believe in them, but my husband wanted us to have one, so we opened one, and I told him to manage it and he has and we havn't bounced anything."

That is the truth, but it didn't seem to please her.

Interviewer: "Have you taken any vacations together?"

Canadian Made: "No we havn't"

Interviewer: "Why not?"

Me: "We were saving money for the immigration process."

Canadian Made: "We will be going to Canada after I get my green card. That will be our first vacation together."

Again...this didn't seem to please her.

It was like, if we couldn't go to Paris or buy a boat together, it just wasn't a valid marriage. It was rediculous. We are so valid we make people around us sick...lol. Unless I'm at work or school, we go EVERY WHERE together. There is a new song out that's called lucky, and the lyrics say "I'm so lucky to be married to my best friend." A mutual friend of ours said that when she hears that song she thinks of us, and yet here we are trying to prove we are in love. This is so awful.

Another confusing part was that 95% of the questions were directed at canadian made. This was even a problem at first because we did not know that if she was looking at one us when she asked the question, that one could be the only one to answer. We ARE a married couple and like alot of us, one of us is the spokes person and that's me...lol. Well, when she asked my husband a question and I went to answer for him, it was the first and only time I did this, she said "He must answer, and you should move away from him so he feels more independent from you," She actually made me sit a chair away from him during the entire interview:(

It just seemed like we rubbed her wrong from the beginning and we have no idea why, and like we didn't answer any questions the way she wanted us to.

The last thing that happened was she got up, walked to the door, opened it and said, "If we have any other questions, you will be notified by mail." and we walked out:( We have no idea what to think.

Word of advice to those who have upcoming interviews is to prepare and prepare for anything and everything, you just never know, we were well prepared, but the IO asked alot of really irrelevant questions. The whole interview lasted for about 25min, so we are waiting to see what happens. What do you guys think?

Hey guys!! I haven't been on in a while but I just wanted to say that we finally got our interview notice for March 10th in the SF office.

I'm gonna start compiling all the evidence and so far I have: joint bank statements, a couple of utility bills w/both our names, some correspondence that was addressed to my hubby, greeting cards with both our names on them, and pictures. I hope that will suffice since that's all we have.

Good luck to those waiting for the interview letter or GC's.

Hey Canadianmade/Canadianmade's wife,

Thanks for sharing your story. It's reassuring to know that other people are going through frustrations like I am.

Actually - my annoying story had a happy ending. My husband got a letter in the mail yesterday (I'm visiting home this weekend) - and it was to welcome me to the States! I should get my card in the next few weeks.

I can't believe the interviewer made such a stink about what she did. Saying what she did about moving away from him?! I guess we can't always predict what these people are going to ask us. I really didn't prepare at all for the interview though - because everything they would ask only I or my husband would know the answer to anyways.

Did they make you sign that form at the end at least??

Hope all goes well Canadianmade!!

Jess :)

Your welcome Jess and I thought I should post to your story because, we had a similar situation at our interview, like you did. Congrads on getting the welcome to the states letter and at least you guys know that you are approved and getting your green card in the mail.

I cant believe also your interviewer gave you guys such a hard time. We certainly cant always predict what is going to happen you know. No I wasnt presented with any type of form at all to sign, did you guys have to sign a form? How did you know you were getting the letter, was your case updated? Thanks for replying back and hope it all does go well.

It's really great when you come on here and find other people going through the same thing as you - thank goodness for VJ!

This whole process can be such a let down sometimes too - you all help make it better. :)

Before we left the interview, we signed a form stating that we are aware that it is up to us to apply for the 10 yr greencard in 2 years - or something like that. Both my husband and I had to sign it.

As for the greencard - I was visiting Canada this past weekend and my husband called me on Saturday telling me I got a letter in the mail from them saying that I will receive the Greencard in around 3 weeks.

Don't worry Canadianmade - it will all work out in the end.

Yeah I agree with what you said, and my wife and I are in such limbo its crazy to be in so much suspense from USCIS and not knowing the results. I would be fine if we knew our fate that day but the prolonging of it makes it worse. At least you know you were definately getting your green card as you both had to sign a piece of paper, my wife and I didnt sign any type of paper at all. I am glad you got to go visit Canada and I am hoping I get my green card by the end of this month so my wife and I have plans to visit Canada. I hope it all works out in the end and I am just nervous because I was presented with anything to sign. All we were told if we need anything we will notify you by mail and knowing USCIS you never know how long you have to wait.

We had out interview today and were APPROVED! it was painless. they didn't ask for any evidence or anything. the officer that had our case was training and his supervisor was there making sure he did everything right. After verifying the information on the forms and asking the mandatory questions, we were done. He had my husband sign the white paper about removing conditions in 2 years and that was it. He told me to get back to class!

He took our AP, but not the EAD. he also didnt say how long the card would take, but i'm assuming about a month. anyone know?

Thanks everyone and goodluck to those that are still waiting.

@Sofia08: They didn't take my EAD at the interview. It happens that the supervisor of the IO has to look at the case and sign it. :)

@jackielibera: How do you wanna proof that you have a life together?

Congrats to all approvals!
