Hello July filers and VJ'rs

We had the AOS interview yesterday 1/22/09. We arrived early, the interviewer (officer) took us in 30 minutes after our appt time, which is typical. She was very nice and asked very basic questions, asked for some sort of joint accounts (most current statements) since we have sent with our application some of them but by now they were old. She took one picture from our many photo albums that we took for the file. We took 4 bagpapck full of documents and photo albums.

The officer took the travel document and work permit from us, checked the passport and our Driver license. She asked me (USC) most of the questions and my wife very little. Finally, she gave us a peice of paper to check the information if it is all correct. My eyes could only look and see the word approved nothing else but my wife on the other hand said, the spelling of her name was wrong which the officer corrected it.

At the end, she printed what she gave us earlier to check on an official USCIS letterhead and said congratulations, ,you are approved and will get your 10 year GC (since you guys are married for more than 4 years now) in one week to 10 days. The paper she gave us states; do not travel outside US, if you do then you need to make an infopass to get preapproval. That is requried if the GC did not arrive and we needed to travel, otherwise it is not needed.

Good luck to all of you who are waiting... and thanks to all who supported us by answering questions and advice. Keep hope alive.

Honestly I don't know if you should be excited or not. Several of us had touches and then out of nowhere were issued RFE's. I'm still waiting for ours to see what they want. We were starting to get excited until that...lol. Good luck to you!!

Congrats to you!!

My interview is on Feb 2nd in Detroit and I'm getting nervous!! I know this is nothing like the K-1 Visa interview jitters - but still. Anything having to do with them makes me nervous.

Anyways - in my letter stating the interview date, it asks for original docs of all my applications. I have copies of many of them, but I'm not sure if I have absolutely everything (all that paperwork gave me a headache and I was glad to be rid of them once it was mailed!!) - do they check everything? And shouldn't they already have everything!? I also don't have a joint acct w/ my husband (I don't work yet - so what would I contribute to the account anyways? Lols) - also, we live with his parents, so we don't have much in both our names except a credit card. Will that be enough? I plan on bringing lots of pics of our wedding - I don't know what else I'll need. Any suggestions?

On a side note - I went home to visit for the first time and Canada gave me NO PROBLEMS at the border. I had my dog with me too and they didn't even care to see the paperwork. On the way back though - that was a hassle and a half!! Took me one hour waiting in my car just to GET to the border (it was over the holidays, so all the Canadians were crossing to shop) and another hour to just get processed after getting pulled over (of course). Does anyone know if that will happen everytime I cross with my AP papers? Cuz that's super annoying. :s

Any help would be great.

Thanks!!

Thanks for the advice Kaush!!

I really wonder how much proof we really need, when some of the VJers here don't even have to interview at all! Yeesh - hopefully the marriage certificate, photos, etc. will be enough. We had tons of witnesses at our wedding too - would they like us to bring them as well??! The only other thing I have on that list you have, is car insurance faxes from the insurance company indicating that I'm on their plan as "the spouse". My phone is not under my name, but my husband's - since I had no previous credit in the US when I first got my phone.

Good luck with your interview too!! I'm guessing this one shouldn't be as hard as the previous one - but still - you never know!!!

So if I haven't had a touch or heard anything from USCIS since September, and it's been over six months since our case was accepted (which it has), can we do anything with InfoPass to get it approved? I checked the InfoPass site but none of the criteria for booking an appointment applied to us. If I call the California Service Center they'll fob me off with the same bullshit they give everyone else. I am seriously pissed off that there are so many people who applied months after me being approved before me that this entire thread has been dumped in an archive folder.

We didn't get asked for the marriage certificate and I know we sent the vaccine record. They seem to lose a lot there. We can't get in to see the Civil Surgeon until Feb. 6th now. Hopefully they won't ask for anything else. I'm ready to be done with them for a while too

We're feeling a bit irritated, we got an RFE today...

In that, our account was updated to say we had an RFE sent.

Don't know what it is for, and I haven't any idea what the hell else they could want.

I know that anger can be common to RFE's, but it's especially infuriating when you were pretty sure you dotted every I and crossed every T the first time....

We'll update later, I guess.
