Hello,

I am looking to get a loan for a school programm but the loan company accept US citizen and permanent resident...

do you think i can be accepted for such a loan while my AOS is pending ?

That is a question for the lender is it not? You will have a hard time proving LPR status without the greencard...

I believe that student loans that are supported by the federal govt are limited to supporting US citizens. I'd get it a shot, though. There may be a bank that will give you a loan with your husband as a co-signer. I'd see what you find.

4/2/04--AOS submitted

8/23/04--Interview in Chula Vista, CA (approved pending name check)

5 EADs, 3 APs, multiple Senators' inquiries and infopass appts, 2 AOS biometrics,

and one move to Seattle later...

3/3/08--AOS Biometrics renewal in Seattle

6/9/08--10 year green card arrived in the mail. My husband is no longer in immigration limbo and is a realio, trulio permanent resident! It says he's been a resident since 04/17/2008.

1/17/11--Apply for Citizenship

I dont know if my response is to late but I has the same problem when my AOS was pending. They would not allow me to have the government student loan until I showed my greencard as proof. Luckily I got mine in time and they gave me the stafford loan.

I got my answer just right now as for what documents are required to make the application and they specifically ask for... :

The cosigner must be a U.S. citizen or a Non-citizen permanent resident. Non-citizen Permanent residents must

submit a copy of their current CIS form I-551 (Resident Alien Card); this form cannot be marked “waived”. We will

not accept cards marked waived or that are expired. If the cosigner does not have a current I-551, we will accept a

Certificate of Naturalization CIS form N-550 or N-570.

So in this case i really really have to wait for the GC or mu husband can apply for me....

I just wonder if we can change the contract after we opened it.... (so it will be in my name)
