I am going to buy a new A/C unit for the bedroom hopefully tonight. I have looked online and Haier seems to be a good deal but some of the reviews say it is loud for a bedroom. Can anyone weigh in here with any recommendations.

thats what i have in the bedroom, just be sure its not to small for the area, i keep the door shut and its fine

The Haier is just a fan, not A/C. Our A/C is central. Trane. Also kickass.

Trane is damn good brand.... I work in Heating and Cooling and haven't had much trouble with the Tranes....

My advice to anyone here is to keep your filter changed every month. If you have a Central AC system, wash the outdoor coil when you see stuff accummulating on it. You will be suprised how much a dirty coil will get your whole system out of whack. If you have a 2 story house and the upper floor is hard to cool, close your 1st floor vents about 3/4 closed so this will force more cool air to the upper floor.

If you have a window unit keep the filter cleaned that is behind the front panel. When you take out the filter, look to see if the coil is dirty. Try to keep that clean as well and you will notice it will cool alot better and not run nearly as much.

On the outdoor unit, if you ever see ice on the Big copper line(Suction Line) your unit is either low on charge or your fan blower has stop working or your filter is really clogged up and not letting air past it....

Another way to save money is to install a Programmable Thermostat... You can set these thermostats to different temps when you wake up and when you leave to go to work and when you come home and then when you sleep. You will be suprised how much money one of these can save you......
