Where do you live (dwelling type, population density type)?

*I live in 6 unit apartment building in the suburbs.

Where would you prefer to live?

*I dunno. My ILs have a pretty sweet deal: A huge house with big yard with a nice view of the Weser in the middle of their 15k town. I guess I would prefer downtown in Germany and first ring suburbs in the US.

What changes would you be willing to make and why?

*I would do any of those things, living in a small town or rural area I am not very hot on. I would only do it on the request of my husband as I am familar with the area he would be refering to. I am not really all that interested on my own in living in a small town. In the US, I defintely just can't see living in a city with a population in its MSA under 500k.

Live on the 11th floor of a 220 unit apartment building in the city with a fabulous view of the lakefront. I'm very happy where we are.

When we move to the UK it will drastically change and we'll live in a single family dwelling in a small town.

SFH in the suburbs... we're well within city limits but since the population density is a hair under 3000 ppl/mi², I put suburban.

I'd love to move to a single family house (preferably) or townhouse in a more populated area like the LA or Washington DC metro areas, but I wouldn't want to live in an urban area. (Or rural, either. But close to both.)

If money was no object, I'd love to live in London...preferably in a townhouse (but definitely don't have that kind of money laying around!!!)

What's the difference between a condo and an apartment?

Ohh I like Mag's and Platy's house. I wish I was I cat and could live with them!! :P

An apartment you rent the unit, a condo you own the unit. A townhouse is like a condo in that while you own it, it is connected to other townhomes, but it usually has multiple floors, and you own from the roof to the ground.

A builder in the Charlotte suburbs (I forget which one) is selling SFH's with condominium ownership. That is, you own the "space" inside and all fixtures but the HOA owns (and maintains) the grounds and the external facing parts of the house.
