Yeah good luck with that.

'cause things are so much better in Europe.

Europe is probably better if you're a lazy bum who likes to take it easy ;)

That's what I've been saying for years.

But yeah, let's go to Europe because gas is $4 / gallon.... it's only $10 / gallon over there.

Yes, but many places in Europe are much more friendly to living without a car.

Exactly.

Plus I like the quote from the girl in the article who refers to the "American mouse wheel". Life is a lot more laid back in Europe. We thrive on stress over here.

Yes, but who wants to live without a car?

Or air conditioning - it's also "optional" in many European countries.

How about the people who can bearly afford a car in the first place? Cars are not cheap. In the US its very difficult to get by without having a car.

I live quite happily without both! :P

You're more limited as to where you can live (I have to really live within walking distance from work/shops) but that hasn't been too much of a problem. The only thing I do miss is walks in the countryside - I'd really need a car for that. :)

Absolutely - living without a car, as long as you're in a neighborhood with lots of things in walking distance and public transportation, is heavenly!

I'm changing jobs on Monday and I'll be able to walk to work! WOOT!

Wes already walks to his job.

Our car may sit for days. I can't wait!

I work 3 miles to work and back each day. In the evening Mercedes and Vincent (our dog) meet me in the park and we walk home the rest of the way together. Best part of my day!!!

When we move over to PDX I won't use a car, M will to travel to Law School.

And M won't take Dual Citizenship (she can get Irish or British through me) as it may affect her political aspirations later. I keep telling her marrying an Irishman is as good as killing her political aspirations anyway. Lol.

Well, I dont think they make Europeans like that anymore:( I haven't been as impressed with Europe the last 2 times I travelled so much as I was the first time. People were more friendly I think the first time I went. Now people there are just....snobs.

ok, dont take this the wrong way. But I was thinking for some reason on this thread. Is there anyone representing France here? I dont know what made me think of that. I think when someone made the comment of the image of thin Europeans being out of the picture...for some reason I thought of France and was like "Hey I never saw a french flag on VisaJourney":)

But back to original topic........if you can get the dual citizenship, why not? It just opens the doors for other opportunities for that individual. And hey, if they all want to leave the US, that'll leave more for us euromutts like me who cannot get any european citizenship more to consume in the US:)

That and health insurance have been the largest disadvantages of moving back here. I guess my choices are:

1) Live in the US and have a job, but have all of my money dicked out of me paying for a car and health insurance.

or

2) Live in Germany and have no real hope of ever getting a job comparable to here, but I don't have to worry about my fillings cracking or alternator still not charging, things that cause a lot of stress.

Yay both countries! :dance::angry:
