we all got it...

Anywhoo, my tip for salads is to use a spray mister. You can buy salad dressings in misting bottles and each mist is 1 calorie, so if you mist your salad say 15 times...15 calories, as long as it's a nice light dressing like a baslamic vinagrette...not something like a calorie laden creamy ceasar or something. You can also do the same by putting your own homemade dressing in a mister bottle. I do the same with olive oil. Less on the food you don't need to eat, less waste left in the salad bowl or cooking pan for the olive oil example. I use to like salads covered in salad dressing, but now realize that I wasn't getting the taste of the salad, just the dressing.

Lately, I have been riding the bicycle about 70 miles per week. Next week, I am planning to up this to 110 mi. per week. With this level of exercise, I have watched the fat completely melt away.

Look at the two photos below. The one on the right is the "before" photo from November '07 - below on the left was 2 weeks ago.

I cut out red meat and pork 18 yrs ago. No bueno.

SuperKen's Chili:

I love to prepare Turkey Chili - 7% lean, with garlic, diced onions, add 1 can of diced tomatoes, then, 1 can of Chipoltle peppers, 1 can of black beans, 1 can of corn. Served over brown rice - add a touch of cilantro and a dab of low fat sour cream. Enjoy!

Use things like:

Lemon/ Lime juice

Vinegar

Olive Oil

To marinade, and season food.

Steam veggies whenever possible, I cut and season (garlic, thyme, scallions, red pepper flakes, sea salt) the veggies, give them a drizzle of EVOO, put them in the steamer and let them go.....it is really good, and you can save the steaming water and use it for veggie broth.

I try to avoid frying stuff. I bake/roast a lot of foods too i.e. potatoes, sweet potatoes, fries, fish, peppers.

or I grill

The George Foreman Grill is your friend.
