Is it better to wait for name change in this case?

My wife just recieved her stamp for her CR1 two weeks ago and now we're waiting for the green card and SSN to come in.

I was thinking about going to the SSN office and when I apply ask them to put my wife's married name on the card.

Is that more trouble than it's worth? Her passport still has her maiden name and I'm pretty sure her green card is going to come in that way.

My other alternative is waiting two years for the conditions to be removed before doing a name change.

08/29/2006 - NOA for I-130

02/24/2007 - Filed I-129

03/05/2007 - NOA for I-129

05/23/2008 - Interview with MTL consulate for CR1 - update: CR1 approved and recieved!

05/23/2008 - Rentry into the US with approved CR1 in hand.

06/13/2008 - Welcome letter NOA

You can apply for her ss card using her married name, just bring your original marrigae license along with her passport and visa. Or you can get it in her maiden name and go back and change it later. Your choice.

I tried to apply in the married name and the social security office said the name has to match what's on her visa.
