Congratulations!

It was good that you got someone from Vermont to conduct your interview - we have met with many people in the Washington DC office and I don't think any of them were even pleasant, apart from the District Director herself!

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

Thanks you guys.

Girona, you are absolutely right. When I went in for my infopass regarding my missing EAD card, the lady at the DC office was sooooooooooooooo nasty to me that I was just praying the whole way there not to land anyone half as mean for the interview.

I don't know whether it is the fact that the DC office has such HUGE numbers of immigrants to deal with - the place is ALWAYS packed - that makes the staff there so grumpy and rude, but that's the way we have always found them.

There is one particular guy that works there who actually said to a man at his window (very loud, so everyone could hear him) "Most of my friends are CEO's of their own companies and look at me, where am I, DOWN HERE with YOU LOT!" It was apparant that he didn't think WE were worth his time or effort and that he was in a job that he obviously hated. The sad thing was that many of the people in the room would love to have his job - most would probably do a better job of it too, bearing in mind they have been through the system and know how stressful it is without a nasty IO to deal with.

My poor husband has had his eyes opened by our whole dealings with the USCIS - he has been spoken to like a piece of dirt and let them do it because he just wants this to be over and doesn't want to be dragged off by security for speaking his mind. That's what they do in DC, if you so much as raise your voice in frustration at the desk, you are carted off and not allowed back in until the following day! So, people put up with being spoken to like this and it isn't right.

I'm just pleased for you that your interview was conducted by someone from Vermont and he sounds like a really nice guy. Shame he isn't a permanent addition to the staff there!

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

I can't believe that IO had the nerve to say such vile words out loud. What an idiot! I just don't get it: why the hell are they in this business, if they can't stand it? But I'm not sure whether I agree with you that people who've gone through the system would be nicer. Hello!!!! Have you interrracted with the security guards there? They are obvioulsy newly naturalized, can barely speak English but man are they nasty! I felt like telling them" look, you've been through the process you jerk, so get off your high horse". Especially the younger Asian guy who checks your appointment letter when you first get in. I can't stand that guy. Yeah, I really wish my IO was a permanent staff member there. He was very practical and just a nice guy even though professional. Maybe his age had something to do with his wisdom, I don't know.

Sumitta, I'm so sorry to hear about your EAD card. Infopass won't help and don't even bother calling the customer service number. Since the cases seem to be moving faster in DC, I would unfortunately tell you that you probably have to wait it out or you could get your representative involved. Maybe someone else in the forum can offer extra advice? This EAD situation is just a rip off.
