Guess this is out then.

LOL! Yeah, he is scared of heights, too. Heights, water, snakes... I think that's most of things... I couldn't do that though becuase the whole time I would be envisioning how it's going to snap off.

Parts of our ' Michigan Avenue ' are full of hookers and homeless and all around urban blight. Yep, I also avoid the city because I like my scalp. I don't think I have ever been to the windy city, though.

Wow! Sounds jus tlike where we should go on vacation :) Heehee!

Good Morning, Happy Sunday, and Happy Shavout.

Happy Shavuot!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Let's see, Chicago with no museums or piers........just walking on Michigan Ave and seeing the loop is fun. A walk on Lake Michigan is cool. In Bridgeview is the largest mosque. I really cant recall having any fun in Chicago..lol. I go in there for a certain thing, like a concert then get the heck out.

Me, I avoid Chicago like the plague...lol. Too many flippin people for my taste. Maybe Kelly can tell you some of the fun things there. Great idea, if ya'll come up here, we can meet at Al Basha for dinner, and invite Kel and Sofyan, Dawn & Hatem, Andrea and Faisal, it would be fun. A MENA dinner party/meetup! We're more fun than Chicago anyday!

Happy Sunday everybody! Damn cat woke me at 6:45am. :P

I have only done chicago as either a museum tour or as a day-trip, so I'm kinda at a loss for 4 days without museums. I don't know that he would want to go to a mosque. I don't like poeple either, but he loves people. And buildings. I'll see if/when we get to go, then discuss a dinner. It's hard to say. Ammar is pretty shy and so is his brother. So it would take some convincing :)

Same with us.

Yeah, he has this weird dichotomy. He loves being around people-- strangers to whom he doesn't need to speak. So he likes cities. He just gets really scared if he has to meet people. Idon't mind meeting people so much anymore (I used to be realy shy), but I hate lots of strangers.

Morning all, watch out for twisters today! thats a scary pic..

Julianna I know you said no museums but I am going to echo Olivia here and say DC. We went there 3 years ago and although Adnan scoffed at the museum idea he ended up LOVING it. We went to the international Spy Museum (he read ever word of every display), found a display of Islamic art including some very old beautiful Qoran pages at one of the smithsonian builidings. we took a touristy bus tour one morning but it took us to 'embassy row', arlington cemetary, white house, etc. Then we took a day trip by train to Baltimore and hit the aquarium and had some great food in little italy. Something about seeing all those world famous symbols of America was actually very exciting. I have picture of Adnan and/or my son in front of everything. Just a thought......

Ammar said yes to 2 museums or so. I woke him up to ask, so no telling if this will stick.. but i think so. The difficulty with DC is it's out of the way for all of us.. and he and I would have to fly.. and I checked tickets-- about $600+ per person... so... it would mean a base 1800 cost on top of hotel, etc. So being that Dh wants to spend 1k or less total on all 3 of us... :) I liked going to DC when I went. I thought they would like things like the smithsonian or the white house, etc... I'll run it by him anyway. He's geared up though for seeing my parents and now my aunt too (she's up an hour away from Chicago.)
