My son's interview on K2 is on July 1, just wondering if he needs an SPA because my sister will take him to the interview? Someone told me that I need to get one at the Philippine Consulate here? Did someone has undergone K2 lately if its needed?

Thanks!

as far as I'm aware, SPA is not required to take your son to the interview. a relative or guardian with proper ID can take your son to the interview. SPA would be needed if traveling outside the country without a parent. someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

that's what I was referring to. for interview, guardian should only need proper ID. I'll give the thread a bump so hopefully someone who has used follow to join will see it.

Well I can only share our experience with this. We went to the Philippine Consulate here in San Francisco, CA and got an SPA, but not because of the interview. We got it because it was required for Mirasol's mother to take her daughter to the DFA and get her passport. Because we needed one anyway for the passport, we included that she would be authorized to act as her agent in the embassy interview and medical exam in the same SPA. I really don't know if its a requirement of the embassy for the interview, but it is a requirement of the DFA. I believe that an SPA is also required for either the DFA or DSDW if a parent will not be traveling with the child out of the Philippines. We are going to get Krrystal, so that was not an issue for us and we did not research it further. I just remember reading that briefly somewhere.

Here is the format we used which I type up in Microsoft Word:

HEREBY GIVING AND GRANTING unto my said attorney full power and authority whatsoever requisite or proper to be done in or about the premises, as fully to all intents and purposes as I might or could lawfully do if personally present, and hereby certifying and confirming all that my said attorney shall do or cause to be done under and by virtue of these presents.

If you decide to get an SPA, I believe it is $50 at the US Consulate and at the San Francisco office, it took all day to be released.

Not sure if this helps, but that's what we know.
