DS-230 question

This is instructions from US Department of State site. Does the sentence in bold mean they want 2 of all submitted documents: one original and a copy? James Shortcut does not mention this. Can someone clarify this for me.

Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit the following original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity). In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

* Birth Certificate

* Court and Prison Records

* Deportation Documentation

* Marriage Certificate

* Marriage Termination Documentation

* Military Records

* Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

* Police Certificate(s)

Yes, originals, and then a photocopy of everything. I think this is beacuse at the interview, they will return the original docs and keep the copies.

Well, in our case they gave us back copies and kept the originals. So if you dont want to 'loose' your originals you can send certified copies and copy of same doc`s.

Yeah, 'LOL' I would not laugh, when you are at the embassy you would keep your mouth shout just to get visa, later on its not that important about the originals, better get copies and visa instead of something else. Good luck sydkym!
