Now my computer is slow and also when i try to run my anti-virus it goes for about one minute then disapears off screen. I tried to call technical support but offcourse they are closed on weekends. First, if you're using Windblows Explorer for a browser...stop!

Firefox isn't foolproof, but it's much more reliable in preventing trojans and spyware to infest your computer.

Go to Cnet.com for tips and advice, but some good programs I've used:

Ad-Aware (Lavasoft)

Hijack This

Spybot

Yes, if you don't know what you are doing, but hopefully he'll read the directions. It's amazingly simple program and very effective i finding spyware that's been put on your computer. It's best to search on Google for anything on the log file you don't know to find out what it's function is. If it's spyware, you'll see a bunch of hits for it.

Anything but Norton. Norton is the worst product on the market. You can NOT uninstall it without wiping your hard drive.

I've used AVG in the past, but it started getting freaky with me. I was a Panda reseller for years, and have been using it exclusively for the past year or so. It catches EVERYthing. It's more expensive than the premium AVG, but it's well worth it.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

I kind of agree with AVG... the newest version kind of sucks. it has a new thing that checks for bad links and it really slows down the computer.. you can disable that feature but then you get this stupid warning ! thing on the AVG icon... arrghh...

Norton was better a few years ago, IMO - today it's a memory leaking POS.

Yeah I had no problems up until 2004 - all the subsequent versions cause real slow-down.

I got a free McCaffee subscription with the new PC, but I'm thinking of ditching it for something else. Its far from user-friendly.

Interesting. We use Panda at work. Incidentally, Norton's corporate offices are just a few miles where I work. I'm amazed they are still in business...what a worthless piece ####### their software is...
