Are you saying, if a woman wants to work, she shouldn't be allowed to? A man should force his wife to stay home?

How about if the shoe was on the other foot, and your wife had the high end job? Woud you stay home and take care of the house and the kids, or is that work striclty limited to the women folk? Do you hold double standards? Regardless of anything else, how would YOU like to stay home day after day after day? Easy for you to think it's okay for someone to stay home and play "Susie Homemaker", but you don't have to. You can go off to work everyday, get out, see people, interact with people, while the wife sits home and has an intelligent conversation with the 2 yo?!!!

I HATE DOUBLE STANDARDS!!! What's good for the goose is good for the gander. PERIOD!!! Don't ask someone to do something you wouldn't be willing to do yourself. PERIOD!!!

Just so you know... I make PLENTY of money to support my future wife, and children if we are blessed to have them. If she wants to work, that's her perogative, and her money. My feelings are if she wants to work, she can, but only because it gives her something to do, not as a means of supporting our family, which is MY responsibility. In that regard... I am "old fasioned".

So it's your responsibility to support the family, but it's not her responsibility to care for it? So even though you make PLENTY of money to support a family, it's ok if you put the kids in daycare because she would rather work "because it gives her something to do"?

Did I say anywhere it was or wasn't her responsibility to take care of the family? She wants to work and help support our family. I just don't want her feeling like she has too. We both have a responsibility to take care of our family, together. Doesn't only mean it has to be financialy. Family doesn't always mean having children either. What... if you don't have kids you're not a family?

Did I say anything about daycare? *looking...looking...looking* NOPE... sure didn't. #######? Where did that come from? You tell Lisa she's twisting things... what are you doing with my post? If we had kids, and they were at home, she would obviously have something to do, now wouldn't she? If you really must know, neither one of us would want our kids to go to daycare.

My fiancee and I have discussed how we will live and raise our children, if we have them, and about working or not working. I don't have a problem, nor does she, because we both think and feel the same way.

Like Arijit (Agent Smith) said in his ealier post,

What is equally unacceptable is for a man and woman with a common belief system to get married and then be insulted by their peers who think they know better

I think I should just tell you that I am only keeping this up because I am enjoying the fact that none of you can actually save yourselves in here. You're digging a deeper hole, but that's ok too.

PWNED or whatever they say.

I know I'm your nightmare, Ken. I know that what you're REALLy afraid of is rejection and a smart woman, and you're afraid of being a failure your whole life. I realize that you don't want to be intellectually challenged. You welcome independant thought as long as it's in short, broken english sentences with a woman who was possibly brought up hoping that one day some great strapping American will come and be her golden ticket to America. I know that what you want is a woman to see you as her SAVIOR, to be seen as a giant amongst men while the whole time you're nothing more than a sad pathetic shell of a man that has been so drastically hurt that you'll never be the same again.

Yes, Ken I know I'm your nightmare. I'm your nightmare cos you know I see right through your bs. And that's ok too. it's all cushti ;)

I am an American woman and damned if I aint proud of it!

Man, I keep swearing "I will not post to that thread again I will not post to that thread again" but I join you all in cheerleading Lisa's post as a lovely piece of good ole American psychoanalysis. Unfortunately insulting, but there you go.

But it's not good enough to be damn glad we're not "acceptable" (as American women) to men who think like this. It's enough to make me nervous; is our society big enough for that much difference? Who's running things? Men who think like this? Does it make me uncomfortable every time we go to the USCIS office and I see these mismatched couples and I think about the fate of these "imported" women who are our sisters too?

Like any discussion in the US in the past 10 years or so, it's all got to be polarized. It's not good enough to live and let live, we've got to put the smack down on each other for being different from each other. And then *that's* not good enough so one side starts writing and passing laws that outlaw the 'others' and the sides are pushed futher apart than before.

What are WE going to do to bring more understanding to each other about our opposing views and make our *society* one that appreciates--scratch that--*tolerates* those differences? I really don't want to be like any of you, and I don't want any of you to be like me, if you understand. But I'd like to know you, hopefully understand you, and have you as a good neighbor.

Who among us has so many friends that we need to be out making enemies instead?

Yeah right...my fiance is probably way more educated than you. and yes creepy self righteous women like you scare the hell out of me...you seem mentally disturbed and apparantly lack enough self esteem to let it go. I would love to be intellectually challenged but I don't think you are up to the challenge. Don't worry though...me and my lady will be married and happy long after you have run your mate off. cheers!

Seriously, I am trying my hardest to be the better person and bite my tongue here.

Ahhh to hell with it

Here's Ken's story:

I met Inna online through www.friendfinder.com. I had become interested in European ladies in particular of former USSR since they hold traditional and stronger family values than most women here in the US. I was talking to many girls, I had noticed her profile but decided not to speak with her due to horoscope incompatability...she spoke to me and eventually she made it to the top of my choice list as we just seemed to click. I flew to Odessa Ukraine at the end of December to confirm she was exactly what she seemed and she was more...I fell completely in love with her...and here we are..me praying everyday that they will expedite our petition so we can start our life with each other:)

Yeah, ok :o
