Politics really. He could say what he wants when he is not running for president. But when he is running for president, he has to spout the party line, or have trouble getting the party to show up to vote for him.

McCain is being underestimated once again by the Obavmitbots, that is ok, he was written off for dead over year ago in republican primary and look where he is now. By the way the next time any of you bleeding heart liberals spend several years beaten up daily in some atrocious Viet Kong prison let me know, I would love to see how you looked after you go through what McCain went through! McCain's military career is separate to his political career. In other words - it doesn't provide any guarantee that'll he'll be a decent President.
