my friend's sister is here on an H visa, my friend (sister a) just got her u.s. citizenship. is it possible for sister a to file a petition for sister b so that sister b could be a permanent resident?

sorry if that's confusing, i don't know how else to word it. i hope someone can give me their opinion. thanks!

She can apply but the wait for siblings is on the order of 10 years. So there is no way the sister can just stay in an adjusted status.

Sibling petitions are taking over 10 years to process. The best thing would be for sister b to go back to her home country once her H visa expires and wait for her petition to be approved.

This would be the quicker route. I-140s are usually approved in 1-2 yrs. Then she can file for AOS. 5 years after she gets her green card she can file for citizenship.

08/17/08: Mailed N400 to TSC

08/19/08: USPS attempted delivery

08/20/08: TSC received N400

08/21/08: TSC cashed check

09/02/08: Received NOA...........Priority date: 08/20/08

09/02/08: Received Biometrics Notification

09/18/08: Biometrics completed - Charlotte DO

10/24/08: Received Interview Letter

12/08/08: Interview @ 1:00pm. APPROVED!
