AOS Interview Postponement?

We got an appointment date for July 17th, however my wife and I will be leaving for her home country to visit her family on July 7th, we already have the tickets and plans. What would be the harm of rescheduling our interview appointment? Is it even possible for the above reason?

Also assuming we push back our vacation, will she be able to travel right after the interview, regardless of their decision?

Lastly, when we filed her adjustment of status I filled out the I-864 but needed my parents to fill out an I-864A to meet the poverty requirements, what, if anything, do I need from my parents to bring to the interview with us?

Thank you in advance for any help.

A friend of mine had changed the date of her interview because of her church wedding in her homecountry and as it is with USCIS everything got messed up, her case got denied and it took a lot of effort to get it back on track.

Do it only if you ABSOLUTELY have to.

Anyone else have any other advice?

Make an infopass appointment with the same local office and change the appointment. Document everything.

I would advise the same, make an infopass appointment but on the other hand, changing your interview date (which is the most important step on your process btw) might bring you headaches. First of all, it will delay your case by X amount of time, months and god forbid maybe years since remember that USCIS has a huge backlog on cases.

It is your choice but in my opinion our interview was priority # 1, I really don't see the point on why after waiting for that day, you are just going to dismiss it.

It wouldn't be so much of a problem if we knew we could travel immeditaly after the interview. Changing the flight plans would cost money and just be a general pain, but I would rather get the interiew over (as would my wife). We do have an obligation in her home country a few weeks after the interview date that we would really not like to miss so knowing that we can travel directly after would be a huge thing.

You have the advanced parole paperwork. That should be good enough for you to leave the country and get back in. They didn't take that from us during the interview.

My wife came to the US on an F1 visa about 10 years ago.

Ohh that's the problem, don't worry you can use the advance parole document to re-enter the US, beside you can always ask politely the officer to stamp you wife's passport with the temporary permanent residence. Bring the ticket reservation and explain your travel plans, that won't be any problem. ;)

Have a nice trip and good luck on your interview
