My lawyer has encouraged me to follow Consular Process instead of AOS.

The fact is I am already here in US on K-3 visa and to follow his option I will have to travel back to Brazil to have my interview there.

He says that it is going to be much easier and fast but it is going to be more expensive too.

So I have not decided yet but I am considering doing it from here through Dallas Office but I have seen a few timelines and I am a little bit scared right now and the Dallas official timeline says they are processing application back 15 July 2007.

I would like to share AOS experience with VJ’S from Dallas area.

I have time to change my mind still and go to Consular Process.

Thank you guys!!!

The AOS will be $1,010... Consular processing will be $400+ plus a RT ticket to return to Brazil. Does not sound so cost effective to me. DORA isn't active anymore... you will submit AOS to Chicago

Thank you for your attention ....

The problem would be you can not follow Consular Process without a laywer so it will add 1000 more.

What do you mean submit AOS to Chicago ? I thought I would be interviwed here in Dallas Office Field, Am I wrong ?

AOS applications are submitted to NBC via Chicago mailing address... NBC will process and either move it to CSC for review or local office for interview...

PS. Consular processing only able to accomplished with the help of an attorney is BS. I am certain several Brazilians here on VJ have done this themselves...

If it is not a problem for you to travel back to Brazil for the Interview at the embassy, it is much faster than AOS in the US. But I would not use a lawyer, you are going to pay for the lawyer to wait around. Also, you can use the shortcuts, James shortcuts and Lotofpatience, and really speed up the process in the NVC. A lawyer will not use these shortcuts. Right now, people are getting through the NVC in 4 to 6 weeks using the shortcuts.

I am going through both processes right now. My I-129F was just sent to the Embassy and at the same time I am processing my I-130 at the NVC. It is not difficult.
