If we are all trying to be inclusive, why do dems make such a big deal out of having a "Black" or a "woman" nominee? If your eye sight is colorless why mention it?

Last I checked - race and gender were issues affecting the entire country, not just one side of the political spectrum.

If you're bothered by one party trumping up the first black or female presidential nominee you should ask yourself the elementary simple question as to why its taken so long for this to come about - rather than pouring cynicism on that party for turning it into a reality. If this is so objectionable to you - perhaps also ask yourself why it is that Republican party keeps on putting up middle-aged white men?

Yeah - its only one side of the equation that's obsessed with racism and misogyny isn't it?

What f*cking planet do you people live on?

Its your consious not mine. Race and gender arent an issue to me! Perhaps the issue resides within yourself?

Yeah - sure they aren't

Lets face it Marc - you don't have one single criticism of Obama that isn't grounded in some stereotype or other.

Well the short answer there is that buying into stereotypes, as you do, that the bolded above is exactly what you're doing.

And yes - stereotypes are opinions, just not your own. More of a common pool actually.

"Dems just hate"

I haven't read the rest of the thread yet, but PUHLEEZ.... they were competing for the nomination of their party. You can say it was more vitriolic if you like, but that doesn't make it true, or anything more than what has occurred in countless other political contests. I didn't see anything anywhere near as slimey as swiftboat or willie horton. Yet.

Just saw BO in VA last night... I think finally with him we will have the inclusive, peace-making consensus-builder that we were falsely promised with GWB. Obama is a FORCE! I am so happy to have a candidate to support who HAS A BRAIN and some INTEGRITY. How refreshing!

I think the "hate" between BO and HRC supporters is a little overstated, though it does exist. BO supporters are mad at the way they perceived HRC used race to drive a wedge; HRC supporters are mad at the way they perceive BO supporters ripped a page from Floyd Brown playbook, as well as a perceived double standard that sexism is acceptable.

However, a friend of mine belongs to a Los Angeles Barack Obama for President group. She is currently organizing a party tomorrow with their HRC equivalent to come together, put the past few months behind them, understand their differences and common goals, plan to work together in the fall, and probably sing kumbaya.

The reality that occurs outisde of the media and blogosphere probably doesn't make a good news story, or VJ Troll thread title.

Just observing the process. This is the impression I was left with. If you don't agree then that is your right of course.

I think you're casting the Reps in an unfairly favorable light here. Its the Dems "nature" to hate.... that doesn't seem very fair somehow...

Something I've noticed. US politics is heavily partisan - even if you're not affiliated with a party, you can't express an opinion without being lumped in one broad-brush category or other. Its the nature of the beast - surely.

You don't try to see any different though. I don't hate Hillary Clinton or her supporters. I generally make it a rule not to hate anyone. Hmmm, let me think, nope... can't think of one person I hate. Way too strong of a word. Dislike a person, yes, if I know them personally and they've done something to hurt me somehow. I'm more likely to hate a behavior, or vitriolic words spewed in my direction. But hate total strangers...just seems silly.
