The CFL is particularly popular in the prairie provinces,

but hockey is country-wide baby!

Although it could be argued that basketball is closing the gap.

From my observations, hockey trumps "football" in prairies.

No real Canadian will admit it, but their nation's favorite sport is badminton... :P
I get fun of the way I say badminton all the time here in the USA... apparently here it's pronounced "Badmitten"
The proof that Canada, despite of protests to the contrary, is closer to US than to UK--where the sport is known as "shuttlecock".

Hockey. Though rkl did make a mistaken assumption that all CFL teams are Canadian (actually, the league has some ex-USFL teams), CFL has a poor fanship amongst Canadians--more of whom will watch NFL over CFL.

Best stated in 1987, when Montreal was trying to boast that it could host an NFL franchise at Olympics Stadium--when the Alouettes were about to give-up-ghost altogether.

Gretzky and Candy owning Argos would cause maybe a small percentage of Pigtowners (aka Torontonians) to give some hoot--but Toronto (contrary to its arrogance) does not represent all of Canada by any means!

FYI, the OFFICIAL national sport of Canada is................Lacrosse!

Above is only partially true

Bill C-212 was amended to recognize both sports. Thus, on May 12, 1994, Canada's National Sport Act (Bill C-212) became law, reading: "To recognize hockey as Canada's National Winter Sport and lacrosse as Canada's National Summer Sport". While hockey's popularity is unquestionable - especially in Canada, lacrosse is still enjoyed by Canadians and has gained popularity in the United States, England, Ireland, and Scotland.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
