Seriously Gary - this line of reasoning is the sort of thing that Boo-Yah would come up with. Sure you have the right to your opinion - but its not hard to see that the logical and rational basis for it is rather flawed.

What line is that? Why can't I not want the form of government that is prevelent in Europe? Why should I have to be a world traveler to know what I want and not want? I like the way we do things here. That is what I want to continue. What is do damn hard to understand about that?

I don't think its fair to write off entire countries (sorry - an entire continent) and their systems of government on the basis of bald generalities about "liberals" and "socialism". As I say - thats your opinion and you're entitled to it - but given that you said this opinion comes largely from "news" its a rather flawed way of looking at things.

Why is Gary so bad for not wanting something he's never experienced? There's enough information out there to form an educated personal opinion about Europe. I've never had a barium enema and I sure as hell wouldn't want to experience one. I guess that makes me close-minded?

No, I was talking about political ideologies and forming an opinion about what it is like to have various different types of governments without actually experiencing day to day life under them (particulary when we are talking democratic countries, it's not like I think people should hop over to North Korea and live under a dictatorship for a while). However, this seems to have degenerated into, 'gosh, you think I am so horrible' and 'Living in Europe is equivelant to having some horrible medical proceedure' which is just silly, again.
