Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I paid the $400 immigrant visa bill a few weeks ago. I have not yet received a barcode sheet. I paid thru the regular mail.

Today I received a form saying that I am missing the DS230 and the $400 fee.

I guess my question is Can I go ahead and send the 230 without the barcode sheet? They have sent me a barcode sheet for the missing documents.

Also, what exactly goes with the ds230 packet? I have just part one and two... is that all I need?

I am very confused and nervous because this process is not going as fast as it should be.

I have been waiting to send the 230, and I should have already sent it, right? Do I have to send his passport copy and other documents with it also. I have not received a "packet" like others on here.

Any advice or direction would be appreciated. Please and thank you :)

Chantal

Perhaps your barcode is on its way. Do you have any evidence that the $400 has been paid?

No, don't send the form without a barcode...it will slow down the entire process.

This website will provide you with more information.

Good luck!

ps: Or perhaps you call NVC for the latest update. They have a 24 hours automated system. If you need to speak to an operator, make sure you call during office hours.

Hi, Chantal. I need more info in order to answer your question. What is the date on the IV fee bill letter? What is the date on the form saying that you're missing the 400 fee?

You cannot go ahead and send the 230 without that barcode sheet. In order to send in the 230, your payment of the $400 IV fee must have been processed with the NVC.

The content of the 230 packet depends on which US consulate or embassy post will handle your case. The first three letters in your NVC case number indicate this. To find out this matter, you can go to http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html then , on the drop-down list, select the designated US consulate post of your case. The next page will tell you what should be included with the 230 form as well as which part(s) of the 230 should be completed and/or signed.

In any event, you should not send the 230 without bacode sheet or without knowing that the $400 fee has been processed and cleared.

Good luck on your VJ, Chantal.

Once the IV fee bill enters into NVC system, you can keep calling to check this information, NVC will generate you DS 230 packet, so once you know it's been generated you can create your barcode following the instructions on the link below. When you call NVC and hear from them that they have already generated the DS 230, ask them for the date that it was generated so that you can add it on the barcode sheet.
