My fiance and her daughter got their visa approved recently in Juarez ,Mexico. My fiance will be entering with me in 2 weeks and the daughter will follow 1 week prior to our wedding in August. I will be going to pick up the daughter and bring her back since my fiance will not have AP yet. Does anyone have experience in bringing the k2 child in the country without the parent. I just want to make sure that I can bring her with me into the states. I will take her mothers visa and any paperwork that shows the type of visa. I have been told by a family member that I might need some type of notarized letter from the mother giving me permission to bring the child with me. Does anyone know if this is true? I figure since I am the USC and the mother already is in the states that I should not have a problem bringing her daughter with me.

You could check with CBP directly but I'd have that notarized letter from the mother in addition to a copy of the visa showing you as the petitioner. I'd do the letter in both languages, so it satisfies the Mexican authorities as well.

And make sure you have a copy of the non-custodial parent's consent (if one was secured for the visa). My wife was asked for it upon departure from her country, Mexico may as well...

YMMV

Thanks to both of you for the reply. Fwaguy, I didn't understand your comment. Are you saying once my fiance enters the country she can give a consent form to the immigration officer so they can have it in their system once I bring the daughter in with me?

The border guards wanted to see the permission slip of paper signed by by her ex-husband granting his permission

The father is not stated on the birth certificate. He is not recognized as the father.

Then I'd bring a certified copy of the birth certificate to support that. One would think the visa itself would be verification enough that all that was dealt with but I don't think it's wise to expect the Mexican authorities or US CBP officers to all be that smart.
