Hello Everyone,

I am leaving to the US in 3 1/2 weeks and I want to ensure I have all my ducks in a row. When bringing a pet accross the boarder what do you need? I think you just have to have to ensure that they have all there vacinations and a health cerficate from the vet. Is this right.

We flew with our two cats and all we needed was proof of updated vaccinations and a certificate of health that the vet gave us.

Depends what type of pet you have. If it's a cat you just need to bring the cat

If it's a dog you need to ensure they are up to date for their rabies vaccination. What type of pet do you have?

As a general rule, there are no restrictions on bringing domestic cats into the U.S.

There are no vaccination requirements for cats, although cats arriving in Hawaii or Guam are subject to that state's/territory's quarantine requirements.

While a rabies certificate is not required for entry into the U.S., domestic cats must be free of evidence of disease communicable to humans when examined by an inspector at the port of entry. If the animal is not in apparent good health, further examination by a licensed veterinarian may be required at the owner's expense.

If you are bringing your cat to the U.S. on an airplane, you should check with the airline about their requirements for transporting animals. Many airlines require a certificate of health from a veterinarian.

If you are driving you should be fine following the above information. If you are flying, then you also need to check with the airlines to ensure they will fly your pet. Some locations have seasonal restrictions due to ambient temperature - too hot or too cold for the animal's safety.

Actuall I have a Chihuahua and he is flying with me on the NWA Plane. Does anyone have any tips about flying with your dog so they don't disturb anyone else on the plane.

we've flown with our dog back and forth many times....

best suggestion is play with them, run around at home or the park before you put them in the carrier so that they are all pooped. His/her favorite toy and their blankie.

Our dog just usually sleeps when he's in his carrier....we got him use to it when he was a puppy......

definetly put a favorite item of theirs in the carrier...or even a shirt youve worn, that always helped my cats.. best of luck travelling with your furbaby!
