Hello. Is it necessary for me to send the income tax returns for the last 2 years to my fiance when she goes for the interview at the American Embassy in India? My last year income is ok but prior to last year, I didnt work and thus, dont have much income to reflect. So can I only send the income tax return for the last year along with the evidence of my current income? Would that suffice the income requirement?

Any feedbacks are welcome and thank you for viewing and replying to this post. :)

Only need most recent year.

Best to get IRS tax transcript and send that.

Stronger evidence than ITRs

Free service - 24/7. Takes about a week to get them.

Get 3 years back taxes. Doesn't matter much if the prior years were low. At least not in my case. My most recent year was high enuf. 2 before were not. I just submitted most recent.

I recently sent three years tax returns to support a sponsorship at the Bombay consulate - it seems that's what they want to see. Even if you didn't have any income - you should still send the three years tax returns, the consulate in India like some others, expect this from what I have read. Good Luck

The Three year tax returns are a sort of requirement - your current income is what qualifies you to meet the 'poverty level plus' test.

I agree with rebeccajo.

You need to follow the instructions given by the Local Consulate. You can not rely on how well someone in the Phillipines did with just 1 year of tax returns and IRS report, it could be very different for you.

Our Consualte asked for 2 years of tax returns and they gave me back the IRS report, they said it was not needed.

Every Consulate is different.
