:) Hi everyone!

I have read many times that it is best for our loved ones to speak in English at the Moroccan Consluate Interview for IR-1/CR-1 visa.

My question is - what exactly is the reason this seems to be so important?

I was just wondering because my husband and i speak to one another mostly in french with some english, arabic and berber mixed in there as well so i was just questioning whether all of the talk about speaking ENGLISH during the interview is just because they might think less of the validity of the relationship if the spouse chooses to speak arabic?

Or  is there some other reason for it?

The actual interview is most probably a ways off for us at this point -- but its just something i kept reading about so i wanted to see what all of you knew or thought about this?

Makaha,

Not sure about the Moroccan consulate, you might want to email or phone to find out.

The consulate in my country allows us to choose the language of interview, they have local staff to come in as interpretor if needed. I know an old lady, her daughter filed I-130 for her, she was interviewed in Cantonese(a Chinese dialect) as that's her native tongue.

They like him to speak English so they know you both can communicate with each other...But, if you both speak French, he just needs to tell them that. They will (usually) ask him what language he wants to do the interview in. If you have the time, I would spend some time practicing up on his English - just to be on the safe side.

Good luck when the time comes!!

The core issue is the couple's ability to communicate with each other, not the language used for the interview. The applicant should make it clear that the two of you primarily communicate in French. The interview can be conducted in a local language.
