He understands international affairs alot better than McCain. He understands that the jihadists majour weapon is oil.

you mean exxon is leading the jihad?

btw, i've yet to see any jihadist blow themself up while attached to a barrel of oil.

OK...

So do you disagree that when argumenting something you don't necessarily have to know what you're claiming? Like I said... one thing is having a disagreement. Quite another is being foolish enough to think that others will be convinced by one's own shortcomings in the very argument at hand. ;)

no i'm saying your a azzhole that thinks he's better than everyone that doesn't share your views

Didn't know there were those kinds of varieties... how do you know what they taste like? ;)

Only if the jihadists are associated or if they endorse certain candidades- according to certain lines of crazy talk. ;)

 But I was going more to the "they don't have oil to blow up since its on sale" bit. I like the logic though.

what has he stated that he would do if he is president, that is so unattainable??
Changing the way politics is done in Washington. You can't change that simply by waving a magic wand and declaring your 'distaste' for it.

I don't know enough about lobbyists and how that works - it fundamentally seems like a bad idea to me but as I said, I don't know enough about it. However, I don't see the plans anywhere so I think it's rhetoric. Personally, I don't like the slogan he has chosen and I do believe that if he continues to live off of it, he will damage his cause.

However, those who do know American politics better keep assuring me that now that the actual presidential race is on, we'll hear more about the policies. I hope so, and I very much hope that the treatment of policies is on a higher level than "McSamism". That would be just silly.

I agree that the whole "change" thing is rather suspect - given what he's actually claimed he will do on that score. Its all on his website - but nothing in there is particularly profound as far as changing how Washington works. I think he's overstating what he can actually achieve there.

I'm also of the opinion that some of the harder-core Obama supporters are behind him not specifically for what he's promised to do in office, but more as a rejection of the establishment figure (Hillary). Perhaps I've simply missed it but I don't recall any threads in which the substance of Obama's policies was laid out in such a way as to suggest that his ideas are better than Hillary's or McCain's. There's been a lot of generalisation about healthcare plans and the future of Iraq - but nothing to really evaluate Obama's candidacy on its own merits.

That's not to say Obama doesn't have plans - of course, he does. But noone seems to be talking about them. Of course "issues" have taken a bit of a backseat over the last few months...

Obama and Clinton are actually not very far from one another in terms of policies. Rather, it's a matter of who do you believe will have the best chance as president to affect change and have a long-term positive impact on the US. I agree with a previous poster that they're going to need to discuss policies now, as McCain and Obama are much farther apart.

charlesandnessa Wow, you dont know much do you, you have really told on yourself!!

As I have said before, People need to realize that the major weapon of the current Jihad is money, not money that they have earned, but for the most part money that comes from an accident of geology. OIL

The way to stop them from attacking is to take the money away, and lets be honest we are a big chunk of the money.

The money spent in Iraq might instead be spent on an energy program to deprive the Saudis and Ahmadinejad, and others of the wherewithal that is critical to the Jihad.I believe that the $2 trillion spent in Iraq would have been better spent on solar and wind projects, and on nuclear reactors. Oil is their most dangerous weapon, and our dependency is giving them assurance that their guns will always be loaded.

Jihad is worldwide not just in afgan. and iraq. This does not require "the troops boots on their ground" here and there and everywhere. Not at all. It requires diminishing their oil revenues.
