QUESTIONS REGARDING RELATIONSHIP PHOTOS FOR CONSULATE INTERVIEW

1. Do the pictures need dates on the back to show time, date & year the pictures were taken?

I labeled each picture with the people who were in it. I just put the month and year.

2. How many pictures must you send or give the consulate? what is a good amount of pictures?

We had 17 and the CO looked at all of them. I would say send as many as you can.

3. How should you present the pictures, in an album or just a couple printed out and hand it over to them?

I put them in photo pages and then combined them all together in a folder. You can put them in an album too. I would no leave them loose, put them together in some way.

4. What kind of pictures are appropriate to send for the interview? Example is it better to send more provacative pictures? More pictures with you, fiance and family? or just pictures of you and fiance together?

We had all kinds: just the 2 of us, with friends and with family. Send pictures that show you in a variety of settings and with different people.

5. How do you prove to the consulate which year you took a certain picture if there are no dates on the back of the picture, will they take your word for it?

Ours did not have the dates on them, the CO had to go by what I wrote. At this point you are trying to prove your relationship. I am thinking the CO will be more focussed on how you looks together in the pictures, the variety, who else is in the picture with you more than when the pictures were taken.

6. If you have changed alot from the pictures that originally sent in i.e. you have gained or lost alot of weight, will they request different pictures? I know its a crazy question but I have gained about 10-15 pounds since the last time I saw my fiance, but still have the same charming smile, will they say its not me? lol

I am sure that they will be able to recognize you in the pictures. I wouldn't worry about that.

7. Has there ever been a situation in which the consulate request affidavit letters from the people in the pictures with you and your fiance to prove their knowledge of your relationship? another crazy question I know

It could happen. For my initial petition I had my sisters write affidavits that they had met my fiance and had seen the both of us together and so I included a picture of them with my fiance for the interview. I have heard of them asking for names/addresses of family members fro field investigations, but not from the pictures specifically.

8. When my fiance first enters the Embassy and gives them his forms i.e. DS 230, I-134 etc., when do they request proof of relationship documents and when asked should he present the photos first or wait till they ask for it?

The CO will ask for the proof of relationship as well as the affidavit of support. When he is called to the first window that is when they will ask for the DS 230, finger prints, visa fee, etc. Then the CO will call him up and ask for the I-134, relationship proof, etc. Give the CO what he asks for. If, for some reason, the CO is not convinced and is going to request a denial (doubt it will happen) then your fiance can offer up the pictures. General rule: wait until they ask for it.

9. How much weight does pictures really hold in termining bonafide relationship...has there ever been a situation in which the pictures were not requested but the visa was approved? just wondering

It depends on the CO. Some COs will spend a lot of time looking at the pictures, others will just glance at it. I think it is so that they can see what the 2 of you look like together, how comfortable you are with one another. You want to provide all kinds of evidence to prove your relationship.

10. Can I make colored copies of my pictures and print it on paper and make a little album instead of the actual pics or its best to just give them the actual pics?

That is fine

BONUS QUESTION: And off topic :star: What is really happening during that time of wait from the time the Beneficiary gives the officer, consulate or interviewer the DS 230, DS 156, DS156K, I-134 and evidence of relationship? During that long wait until the Beneficiary is called to be interviewed ... What exactly is happening? Don't they review your I-129F packet waaaay before you come for the interview? Are they now reviewing the new evidence to form questions for the Beneficiary????

During that time they are interviewing other people, looking through your packet, drinking tea  I do think that they spend time looking at the cases and predetermine what kinds of questions they are going to ask the beneficiary. The new evidence is not provided until the CO calls you to the window and at that point that is when they will ask any questions that they have from the new evidence. That is why you need to go prepared.

Phew! You have a lot of questions :)

1) We made notes like that on the pictures.

2) A small albums worth is fine.

3) Keep in mind most consulates have a plate glass window between interviewing officer and beneficiary, with a dip in the counter to pass items through, so an album needs to be flexible to fit under the glass.

4) Simple pictures together, as well as ones with family.

5) Pictures are not for proving when you met, only that there is a relationship.

6) NO

7) Have not heard of this in all the time I have been reading posts.

8) During the interview.

9) I dont think my wife, fiancee at the time was asked for pictiures.

10) YES  that is fine.

Bonus: They are interviewing others.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.
