Hi,

I'm almost there.

I'm just waiting on the package (DS-230 & Documents) from my wife from Vietnam. As soon as that arrives I will mail it off immediately.

I just want to get a feedback from everyone who has just gotten their case completed.

My concern and question is, is it necessary to include "Court & Prison Records" if my wife have never been arrested or gone to jail or prison.

Second question/concern is "Deportation Documentation", she never been deported either.

As for Divorce papers, she never been divorced.

And military records, she was never in the military.

Also "Police certificates"... Can any one tell me if I need to send these in? Cause this is not what's included in the package that my wife sent me.

She only sent what she was able to provide at the time, which is certified copies of Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate and Passport along with 2"x2" pictures. I appreciate the quick responses.

what if the documents are in Vietnamese, do I have to have a certified translation of the copies?

I hope to hear from people with cases for Vietnam, however, any answers from any other counties are certainly appreciated as well. Thanks.

Congrats on making it this far. I would definitely send in those police certificates (w/ translations), they will be looking for them. They don't have to be professional translations, but you must include a notarized statement from the person translating that they are proficient in the language of the documents and English. And that the translation is complete and accurate to the best of their ability.

This is what we did and out application sailed right through. Good luck...Peace!!!

I don't think the documents need to be translated. If you a processing your documents through an Appointment Post U.S. Embassy, then it says, "Translations- All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations."

Here's the link

Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I also called an spoke with the NVC operator and she said that no translations were needed. I had thought about it though, unless they have someone working at the NVC that is fluent in all those languages from all the different countries... how are they going to be able to determine what's what without the translations. I am really confused on this one. I am not trying to give incorrect information, I am just trying to hopefully get confirmation on what I have been told and what I have read.

If it is appointment post, no they don't need to be translated as per to NVC guides. If it is appointment post it will say "Translations- All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations."

Check NVC guides for your country regarding translations on the link below.

Police Certificates - yes, you must have yr wife sending them to you, they must be submited along with DS 230.

Prision Records - If no records, then this document is not applicable.

Can you be more specific on your comment? I was under the impression that you were asking in here all those questions because you were not sure on how you should proceed and that you wanted to be sure before sending the package with missing docs. I was just giving you the answers you're looking for based on my own experience and on everyone else's posts and threads. But you can still send the missing docs, I just believe that there will be some delay on your case due to the missing docs, well if that is the case cause I'm not quite sure on what you meant by "what". Sorry.

If the docs are in transit to you, I would have your wife rushing the missing docs to you right away through a fast mail express, since they cannot be copies, they must be originals or certified copies issued by the issuing authority and not by a public notary. NVC does not accept copies. What I would do now is to wait for the second package from her and mail them all together to NVC in order to avoid a RFE.

Good Luck.

tpi008, HCMC post in VN is an appointment post. As a result, you must send PC to NVC. When your wife obtains the PC, she can ask the same place to do the translation. Keep in mind that once you submit the original PC to NVC, you don't need to bring the original one to interview. Here's the latest email that HCMC sent to me:

Thank you for your inquiry. If you have already provided your wife's Police certificate to
NVC
, the document should be in the case file transferred our office from
NVC
. Your wife does not need to re-do a Police certificate.

If you have further inquiries, please do not delete your original email and please include the complete case number (HCM XXXX-XXX-XXX) in all correspondence.

As for Divorce papers, she never been divorced.

Thanks.

When we were on that stage DS-230 I was also confused about translations, everytime when I was talking with NVC operator I was told we dont need translations, but when I emailed them I received :..."All documents not in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations."

Very confusing, we translate all doc`s later on.

Good luck!

can i have her email me a copy of the PC? the thing is she sent the package without the PC and she won't be able to get a hold of that document after a week.

I never had much information regarding this. So would it be ok if she email me a copy and I print it out and send it to NVC? a copy meaning uncertified.

I think it appointment post... thats what the popup dialogue says when i click for my country's selection.

tpi008, HCMC post in VN is an appointment post.

Sincerely,

hi Tyrobe, nice to hear from you and hope you guys got approved!

I just received the package my wife sent this morning, comes with everything except the Police Certificate. At this point i don't know whether I should sent what I have or hold off until I get the PC, and I really need advice on how to get it from my wife ASAP preferably within 1-3 days. Anybody have any ideas?
