Hi everyone.

I just wanted to know if it's true that you cannot send K1 Petition to Vermont office if the US citizen is a California resident.

I just received a response from a girl with same nationality as mine.

She told me that she applied K1 in late January2008 and received Visa three months later.

I believe that VSC processes K1 petitions a lot faster than CSC.

So, I asked my attorney if I can send my petition to VSC but he told me that I can't.

I really think it's not fair that I don't have a choice because of the residency situation.

Somebody please tell me if what my attorney says is true or false :help:

Thanks!!!

CasandraApple,

No one has a choice as to where they send their petition packet. If they did, then everyone would send it to VSC and then VSC would be backlogged.

The VSC is a lot quicker but unfortunately where you file your I-129f petition packet depends on which state you live in.

And yes, it's not fair that you cannot choose, but you're not the only one that can't choose, no one can. :(

So yes, your attorney is correct and you will be filing through CSC.

Casandraapple,

Yea, it would be awesome if the US govt. figured out that they should equal out the petitions so that no service center is ever backlogged while the other is flying quickly.

I'm sorry to hear about your attorney. What is he/she doing that is so untrustworthy? Unfortunately, the info about the service centers is true.

Have you guys filed already? Just so you know, we filed at CSC as well and was told it'd probably take 5-6 months, but we got ours approved from the CSC in about 4 months and 10 days I believe. We now have our interview on July 7th, so time flies.

Of course it's easier if you are able to be with your fiance during the waiting process. I've spent nine out of the past 12 months with my fiance, so it made waiting a little easier, of course nothing can make it acceptable and okay.

Why not go to vermont district rent a mailbox at UPS and a phone number, stay there for a 4-6 weeks if you can and send your file to vermont office?
