I think this is proof that what works for some doesn't for others.

I tried Bare Minerals and it caused a severe reaction on my face - burning, redness, severe and constant irritation for about a week after I used it the first time so have avoided it since then.

I have just ordered proactiv so we shall see!

Not sure, I don't have it handy. I was using the clinique 3 step skincare system and it made me breakout and once I started using this stuff I cleared up right away. I will look and see though! I'm not a salesperson for it, just giving my experience, if something else works better for someone then use it! :)

Coolness. I was just curious. I'm not trying to be a salesperson :) but I absolutely love what I use and I get stoked telling other people about it (yes, I have no life  . Arbonne products are botanically based and ph correct (among other things) - so there is nothing in it that tends to clog up or irritate skin. See, I'm a nerd. ;)

But like someone else said, you just have to find what works for you and go with it.

I started using Proactiv 3 weeks ago but I'm not that impressed. It just "kind of" works for me. I still get new pimples but they disappear faster now. I read somewhere that they have this one product called Proactiv Advanced Blemish that apparently works better. Next time I go to the mall, I might just look for that particular product and try it instead of doing their three step program. I'll finish the bottles I have right now and see what happens.

I'll have to try some of the products that you guys mentioned earlier. :)

I have never tried proactive but i've tried almost everything else. Before I came to the states my doctor back home wrote up a perscription for " Clindoxyl Gel" I cleared up within a few days. It's just a tube of white cream and you put it on every night before bed. It's like acne treatment and a night face cream all in one and it works well. And it was cheap, i think i only paid like 5 bucks a tube. I don't know what it would cost here but I found that this really worked really fast. :) Good luck

Back when I used to use makeup I found that every single time I put it on, no matter how fancy it was or what brand it was, it would clog up my pores and I'd break out in pimples next day. The best answer for me was not to wear makeup at all...

The more you dry out your skin with cleaners, the more oil it produces in retaliation. It's the natural state of skin to produce oil... better to wash your face regularly with water and a gentle soap and to leave it be.

I agree with what you're sayin Karen  but it's not really realistic for most of us...and if you don't wear makeup cause your skin is really good, that's great for you!! (i'm jealous!!) ;) but I think most of us wear makeup to look more professional at work, to just feel good about ourselves, or whatever...I don't wear it a lot when I'm just around at home if I didn't go out in the morning, but I always feel better after I put it on...and I don't do overload...but it makes me feel more 'finished' ;):) M.

Hi there folks,

I'm afraid this is only for the ladies ... I think?!? ... but there are a few brands of contraceptive pills that are listed as assisting in the battle against pimples. If you're suffering and haven't tried this option, it's worth thinking about anyway - depending on your preference for or against such things.

I never had really bad acne, thank goodness, but I was sick of getting pimples at my ripe old age so I changed my brand of pill to 'Cilest' a few years ago. They were supposed to be one of the brands that helped with acne and they certainly did seem to help me. They're not a particularly expensive brand and I've hardly had any pimples at all since swopping brands. Even when I stopped taking them because I was alone in England for months on end, I still didn't get more than the occasional single pimple.

Some might think this is a sledgehammer to crack a nut, but it worked for me.

All the best,

Sheila

I too, since stopping the pill about 6 months ago have started coming out in cystic like acne. My zits are definately hormonal based (PCOS) and I've just started taking Diane 35 (in England I took Dianette) so I almost sure in a month or so they will be gone. (The ingredient cyproterone acetate is was does it) Nothing else actually works for me. but I must say I haven't tried Proactiv (Lol although my 13 yr old son recommended it!!)

Now I just need to work on the scars and do have the Neutrogena microdermobrasion kit.

I know the feeling, I havent tried it but have thought about it. Now that I read your post I will stick with what works for me, Neutrogena oil fee acne wash, it seems to be the best one, and when I have sever breakouts, plain old Dial soap straight to the face, it really dries out your face so I dont use it unless I have alot of breakouts. I have also heard major raves about that Mario Badescu's pink drying lotion, I was thinking about trying that as well.

I have just ordered some of that Mario Badescu pink drying lotion, its pretty cheap at $17, cheaper than Proactiv, and I will see how it does! Will also try some good old fashioned Dial soap too, lets hope it works!

i also recommend birth control pills, Whenever i'm not on the pill my blemishes increase. I use ortho try cyclen lite, and it costs 16 bucks a month from pp. mario badescu has some great stuff. But in my opinion, if you exfoliate, that's your best aid.
