I would first like to thank everyone that has helped with making this website what it is!!!! You are a great help for those of us that want/need to do this with out an attorney. I am in the process of filling out the I-129f form and I cant find anything about my following question. My hopefully soon to be wife has the letter " ü / Ü " We dont have this letter here in the states. ( I dont know what its called but it looks like the letter u with two dots above it) The very first question asks to spell her family name and then latter on in the form (question 16) it ask to spell her name with if anything other than roman texts are used. SO... here in the states we change the "ü / Ü" to a "ue" Do I spell her name like it shows on all of her papers and use the Germany letter or change it and make it a "ue" like they do here in the states. My next question is how do I fill out the question 16 based on what I file her name as.

My second question is based on a J1 visa...

She came to the states back in 2003 with a J1 student visa where she then filled for a Social Security number. My question is: Do social security numbers expire after her visa expired. She did not over stay her visa and had no problems getting one. The I-129f form asks if she has a SS number or a A#. Do I need to put this SS number in there and what are the chances of getting a RFE back if its an expired SS number?

Here are some really quick questions that I hope someone can answer and save me hours of research time...

1)

neither of us have a middle name. Should i put "none" like i do for other things on the form or will they get confused and think my middle name is actually none. Thats a stupid question but i really dont want a RFE!

2)

For my initial petition, is the Affidavit of Support required? Is this the only thing i need notarized on a uscis form bases?

Thank you for your help?

I apologize if these questions are on the form somewhere. I dont want to make repeat post but i simply just didnt find anything on these topics.

Mike

Just to answer one of your questions: the SSN never expires. My DIL had one from a prior J-1 visa and there were no problems or RFEs.

For the native letters, I hand written that information in my native language.

If you dont use a middle name then leave that blank. You do not want to confuse them with 'none'. You can also use a dash "--" to show that there is no middle name.
