Unfortunately, in many ways, they are correct. I have heard and read time and time again that our citizens want the government to focus more on aiding America first than trying to save the world.

That was the LOUD message the last elections sent by ejecting Republicans from office in historic numbers.

... they are bias and self serving. Not to mention, a distration from the way they threat their citizens that express an opinion that varies from the governing practice, policies, and laws.

Yes it is unfortunate that our US government is like that with the way they treat we citizens but another big change comes this year when Democrats take the White House and Congress.

And I'm curious, what DO they teach of Tiananmen Square? The students that I have from Taiwan learn of it, but the ones from other parts of China tell me they never learned it in school. My mom was teaching English in Beijing when this happened and her former students say the same thing...that it's not taught. Is it just certain areas of China in which this information is silenced or is my information totally incorrect?

I'm still waiting for that answer...I'm sure that if anything is taught about Tiananmen Square in the PRC, it is quite different from what is taught in Taiwan or Hong Kong...

Why would any US official talk about them though.. Playing devils advocate here but what would America say if the European Union started laughing about the state of the country, it's crumbling infrastructure, the number of ghettos here etc compared to any other OECD nation.

Point being keep to yourself when it comes to foreign politics. Learning from other countries is a good thing but sitting there and telling others what to do is not the way to go.

China now has $1.4 trillion dollars in reserve. They are an economic powerhouse and growing rapidly. So pissing them off is the dumbest thing a country can do.

Holy smokes..... the comments in this thread are totally overboard and down right rude. I know some people have political issues with China however the attacks on Chinese "people" are just NOT right. I am closing this and I am politely asking that everyone remember that the citizens of a government are NOT the government. I would also like to ask that if you state something as fact please be sure it is, and it is not just speculation.
