Hi all:

Is the vaccination supplement form I-693A now known as I-693 Part II vaccination section? Also do you need a TB skin test as per instructions on Form I-693:

"Form I-693 has been revised in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updates to the Technical Instructions for the Tuberculosis (TB) Component of the Civil Surgeon Medical Exam. The revised Technical Instructions include new requirements for the TB component of the medical exam and will be effective 05/01/08".

Anyone who has their I-693A forms transcribed by the civil Surgeon lately please help me on this issue. As I went to see one civil surgeon, he told me that my wife still needs TB skin test and blood test: cost $225. He said all shots were completed oversea. She came to the U.S as K1 visa and had her exam done in Jan. '08.

Many, just do it by mail using this one in TX. Last I heard he will do it for $20

Austin, TX 78745

Tel: (512) 444-3131

Fax: (512) 447-4699

There is a pined post about this at the top of the AOS forum. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101202

Note: I-693 has changed some.

I-693 instructions page 4

2. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical exam overseas?

If you were admitted as a:

A. K-1 fiancé(e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fiancé(e), or as a

B. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen, and

C. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then-

a. You are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, is filed within one year of your

overseas medical examination.

b. You will, however, be required to complete Part 1, Information about you, and submit the

vaccination section of Part 2 with your adjustment of status application. A designated

civil surgeon must complete the vaccination section and Part 5, the Civil Surgeon's Certification.

http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693instr.pdf

Again this in not a full medical, only the "supplement" is now part 2 of the I-693 form.

You should be able to print out the directions for form I-693 and point out where a full medical is not needed for K-Visa holders to the doctors that are insisting on gouging you.

You can even go to family doctor, local clinic, county health department... And get tested or vaccinated for this, and then send the record to the CS in TX.

These tests can be handled by any medical doctor, CS not required. CS only needed to sign off on the I-693.

Yes your wife may go to family doctor to do a TB skin test and took Td shot if she has positive reaction from the skin test, but most asians have +ve!!

If you said your wife just had medical in her home country in Jan 08, I think maybe there is a chance for her not to re-do the blood test!!

After collected all the results from your family dr., just find a local CS to sign the I-693. My CS charged me $125 just for filling the form for me.

Does she need a TB skin test and blood test? Thanks

$125 is very high, we had one in Rochester do it for $30, he stopped insisting on full medical when I showed him the I-485 directions.

Hi there:

One CS already determines that she needs TB skin test and blood test. Is this TB skin test a new thing in addition to transferring the vaccination documents?

My wife had her full medical exam in the Philippines in April 4th 2008.

Last week, we found a civil surgeon in Los Angeles and the doctor said that we needed the following for the I-693:

a. blood test

b. tetanus test

c. skin test (tb test)

We paid $130 cash in a Los Angeles clinic.

After a few days, the skin test shows +tive, but we were told that most asians are + since in the Philippines many are exposed to TB.

The doctor looked at the most recent X-Ray taken at the medical exam in the Philippines and the doctor said that her lungs are clear.

So we're gonna pick up the sealed brown envelope tomorrow.

The doctor said everything looks normal.

Also heard ppl paid $500 to get a new full med exam just to avoid the hassle of getting an RFE over this med. thing. I heard from people b4 have rec'd RFE for TB skin test even they had medical exam oversea. Don't want to get any RFE re: medical, RFE is no fun and delaying case processing.

Will get results in a couple of days and pick up seal envelope from Dr., then will submit AoS application.
