Wellbutrin almost drove me crazy. Well, crazier than I already am. I got feeling of doom and dispair, depression and thoughts of just giving up. Chantix is much better at least for me.

Thanks for the input. I'm really not sure what will help him. I guess the patch or gum would be a good way to start. For him, like me, I think it's more breaking the habit than the physical addiction.

No, it just makes you forget to smoke. At least for me that was the case. You take it starting out in small doses and build up over the space of a week. My doctor told me to continue smoking for the first 2 weeks after starting taking it. After 2 weeks you quit. I have been taking it for 11 days now. Without effort I have already dropped from 20 cigs a day down to 6 or 7 a day. My quit date is monday.

I was on this before. I dropped a 2 pack a day, 30 year habit. I was smoke free for about 6 months. Dumb-azz me, I gave into the stress one day and started back up about 3 months ago. At least I never went over a pack a day when I restarted. I will make it stick this time.

I'm aware of the consequences. I wish I would have never started. I have tried to quit many times. The last time I used the latest wonder drug Chantix. That didn't work out very well. Chantix is off the market now and believe me I know why. Now I'm driving a Semi again and am prohibited from taking drugs, like Wellbutrin.

Unfortunately they are probably going to kill me. In the meantime the Government needs to keep their nose out of it. Isn't that usually the Conservative point of view?

Another solution: Personal responsibility. As usual we can agree to disagree. That's an old article anyway. There have been several States that have struck the requirement down.
