Hello all"

I got my passport in November 3, 2006, will expire on November 3,2011. Good for 5 years. When I got it , it was not needed to travel to the USA as of yet. I married on June 16,2006, in the USA and fill out immigration papers a week after marrying. Went home married, but in Canada your name only changes when changing your name with driver licence so on. When I cross the border going IN the USA, the border quards stamped my admittance with a special $6.00 ticket, to be remove when crossing back into my country Canada. My passports shows my entry June 8,2007 and aslo was stamped my proof of departures on July 1,2007. I would like to use this passport for proof when I get my interview at the Consulate which will be in Montreal. The border quards never ask me if I was getting married, they all thought I was going to work there.(this is why they stamped my passport and told to have the ticket remove upon leaving) When I went back to Canada, they never ask me any questions, just remove the little ticket on my passport and stamped my departures. Do I need to get a new passport in my married name?. I have gotten a long form birth certificate for the interview, (whenever my husband fills out his 1-864.). Not at the interview stage BTW. I think, that the passports in my maiden name would show proof that I do not stay and married in good faith, leaving my husband behide and following laws and returning home. Any answer would be greatly appreciated.

Marie.

also everything seems to be easier if, if you are changing your name, you keep your maiden name as your middle name. I didn't really want to but I did for immigration purposes - it keeps everything really transparent and easy - so if you have a driver's license in your full married name but still have a passport in your maiden name they can see easily on your driver's license that it's your maiden and not a mistake. if that made sense!

I'm sure the embassy there will be familiar with the name changing process there. When entering the U.S. for immigration, if you use the passport in your maiden name, just have a copy of your marriage certificate.
