What does the kool aid comment mean??

Oh it's a really funny one too... in the 70's People's Temple cult leader Jim Jones led his followers into a mass suicide (something like 1000 people) by drinking Koolaid. So the comparison is that Obama is like a cult leader...

Of course you picked the one definition that fit your argument, but there are others, just as valid.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...14009&st=18

so what EXACTLY do YOU mean by it?? Without linking to anything and in YOUR own words...

"Drinking the koolaid" is fairly mild compared to calling the opponent a b1tch and a c*nt, both of which have happened on this board only today!

Sure, but I can't say that I've seen those remarks, nor would I find them acceptable. In my opinion, when people say, don't drink the koolaid, they mean don't get drawn in by a charasmatic figure who is only going to lead you down the wrong path...

People say "don't drink the kool aid" in my office all the time. Usually as it refers to office politics or some baloney we get fed by people we work with. You may not like it personally, but I don't think it offends most people and usually it is no more than light mocking. No one has been brought to HR for doing so. If the males starting referring to the females using b1tch and c*nt they would be called on the carpet so quickly their heads would spin.

I believe that this is all inapropriate, the kool aid remark is rude, and calling hillary those name was rude also. Those names that people called her do not represent how I feel and I appoligize to you on the inapropriatness,we all know how much you like Hillary.

But honestly, your kool aid remark is also out of line. There is not need for that!

And people saying something in your office all the time does not make it appropriate, people curse all the time that doesnt make it appropriate. But I personally take offense to it because I fell that her intentions with that phrase is obvious.

I will not vote for Obama. I cannot, in good faith, cast my ballot for someone I do not believe in one iota. He is as bad as Bush in my eyes. Considering I've voted Dem for every other election, this will be hard. I may go Independent, I may write in. Who knows?

Where you lying then or are you lying now? Who knows?

Wow, so now I'm a liar? You musta missed the part I wrote, 'Who knows?' That Koolaid sure is a blinder!

Dev,

This is the post...

Illumine - I'm presuming that you will be one of the 29% of Clinton voters who would vote for McCain rather than support your party. Hmmm...

Why would you assume that?

Maybe someone ought to tell Hillary that taking the nomination fight all the way to the convention didn't work for the Dems in 1980, it work for them in 1968 and it didn't work for the Republicans in 1976. In fact, I am not sure that there was ever a successful candidate born out of a nomination battle at a convention.

Reinhard, I think you were right yesterday...if Obama reaches the needed 2,024 delegates by June, Hillary will concede. I'd love to here somebody get her to commit to such a promise, but hopefully she'll do the right thing for the Party and concede once Obama reaches 2,024. I can't say the same for Dev and metta though...they may keep fighting for Hillary long after she's out of it. :P

Why would you say that? The battle is not over Steven. I will abide by whatever comes out of Denver. Will you?

I'm not seriously offended by it. But it is more personal when you slag off the candidate as opposed to slagging off an individual supporting a candidate, ya know?

Steven, shockingly enough, I *can* read. :bonk: I also am not aware I was under oath when I signed on to VJ. I don't appreciate being called a liar when a.) I am not under oath & I can indeed change my mind, and b.) it's lame personal attack that serves no purpose.
