K-3 ROUTE CHANGED TO IR1/CR1 ROUTE

Hello Friends,

Thank you for everybody who so kindly share their knowledge and experiences. I find that I get more answers and help here than from the NVC themselves......it helps to know I am not the only one going through this termoil......Good luck to everybody and I pray that everybody is reunited with their loved one soon.....

Question:

My husband and I originally embarked on the K-3 Visa route to get me to the USA. Both our I130 and I129F petition was approved, but then he got a letter saying that our I129F was approved and sent to my local consulate and that I will get my instruction "packet 3" soon (with a case number). But he also received a letter for the AOS Fee bill which indicated that our route now changed direction into the IR1/CR1 route.

Should I inform my consulate that we now want to abandon the K-3 route as we are going the IR1/CR1 route?....From all the information I could gather, it's better to go the IR1/CR1 route...

I would defintely contact the consulate and get their opinion on what you should do. In the past some consulates have used the scheduled K3 interview to conduct the CR1/IR1 interview ...as the 130 paperwork was forwarded to the consulate prior to the the K3 interview actually taking place....thus they will not have to cancel the k3 interview and wait until they are able to schedule another interview time for the CR1/IR1. Contact them and see what they say.
