No...I asked for an expedite when we filed the waiver in 2005.

I'm confused. Waiver?

I guess we don't know (or remember) enough about your case.

My buddy got his expedite approved due to humanitarian reason, so its possible.

Can you tell us more about this?

My husband had to file an I-601 at his interview...I asked for the expedite for the waiver.

Ah. I think I see...

You waited a good while for your NOA2 and interview and the visa was denied (for reasons you don't need to rehash here) but there were medical issues. If you don't mind, who had the issues? The USC or the beneficiary?

My mom (I am her caretaker) had the medical issues. I was back and forth between the USA and Canada and my full-time presence was needed to care for my mother. Due to that I was unable to work, so my husband was supporting he and I from Canada.

BTW..I knew from the onset that the visa would be denied and hubby would need a waiver. I enlisted my senator from the start of the process, and informed him that when I got to the waiver I would be requesting an expedite. IMO if you have compelling reasons it is essential to get your senator (congressman was useless..tried him first) involved early. Too many people wait until the last minute to get their elected rep imvolved. I was in contact with the senators office for almost a year leading up tp the waiver filing, so they were well-versed in the particulars of our case.

Regardless, it's not the same thing as the others who are talking an expedite. You need to make that really clear when you make such statements as we got expedited. You had some extenuating cirucumstances that you didn't make clear from the very beginning. This raises the hopes of others wanting to expedite.

Not that they can't get expedited. But, they need the whole story before they put all their hopes on the expedite.

Russia is devided pretty much in to 2 parts, Moscow and St. Petersburg, and everything else. If you are from Russia you would know and be very aware of city you live in. Most of the cities are crime infested outside of the two I named. His wife lived somewhere in Krasnodar or something like that. She got attacked and robbed, so he used the russian police report (translated) to request expedite, and got approved in 5 days.

Here is my story. I've lived problem free life, payed my taxes. One day I decided to marry this girl. But to do so would require her to come to US of A, and so it started. My problem free live turned in to free problems from USCIS! Sure things turned to unsure, certain dates turned to aproximation within months. All logical thinking was out the door, as I filed my papers withing famous Vermont Centre!

I need a little more information.

At what stage of the process did he produce this police report? When the petition was still stateside before NOA2? Or after the petition was approved but the beneficiary was awaiting interview?

I agree.... more info. please.

Lots of our SO's come from very dangerous countries and would be happy if it were this easy.

Very good.

And good on you for realizing your husband would need a waiver. Anybody who has studied the process sufficiently before they file should be able to recognize when a waiver might be needed.

So your case goes to another in the column of a case expedited due to urgent medical reasons. That's a valid reason.

It should however also be noted it's a bit different pushing an expedite for a waiver compared to a visa petition. Waivers aren't adjudicated in service centers. And there are a lot fewer of them to be worked on.

Well, with all due respect, without more details we can't really prove the case was expedited. Sorry.

Dont do it Ilya lol, you gave the information you have and if people take they do and if they dont then oh well. Rebeccajo has been on here a long time and has not seen a lot of expedites granted other than the medical ones, some people need to see to believe things , or in their case just wants to have more information before they consider it to be a fact. This is a website set up for everyone on the internet to learn and ask questions about what the dont understand about the immigration process. I have not seen so many "old timers" posting in these forums in a long time so I am under the impression they are trying to get the website back up to par with information that is needed and can be used to help people. After the backlog there was a ton of problems and even though Vermont is still having problems things are better now for the most part so time to get refocused I guess. Dont take it personal, and they did say with all due respect, if you look at some of their other post you can see that is really a nice act for them.

Well, no you don't have to go through all that bother. Unless of course you DO wish to confirm it yourself.

I learned a long time ago, in reading these forums, that a lot of the 'stories' people will convey to us are either that - just stories - or they may be subject to interpretation or twists of terminology. Kind of like the old game of gossip, you know. In other words, this guy could have conveyed to you that his lawyer got him an expedite, when in fact something else actually happened - like the case just got approved in its own time.

At any rate, I'd like to believe that a case could be expedited for truly humanitarian reasons. It's not that I don't believe you - it's just there's not enough here to go on.
