MENA: I Need you opinion

Hey everyone,

Yap its me...still on AP and I feel like a dead horse myself. I was reading on another site about how this man contacted everywhere after his 8th month and finally got the case to get moving. I never want to force anything, so I did not do anything before. But now, a few words he said struck me: "I was not willing to take no for an answer and I knew I deserved an speedy name check – I had never been in any kind of trouble with the law."

My husband too, never did anything harmful or unlawful. Maybe its time for me to do something. I know many of you had contacted your congressmen, etc. I would like to know how you did it. Do you just e-mail them? I know there is some form to allow to release your information or something of that sort - my head is not fully functioning as of now...can someone tell me how they contacted their congressman, or any other body?

Thanks

Tammy

PS: Theres so many different problems going on here in MENA, from e-mail searches that turned out bad to illnesses and delayed arrival of SO, to all of you, (F) . I hope we all hang in there and get some solution to our problems.

Hi Tammy!

i'm always so touched when i read your posts... you are strong and brave.

yes, i think you should do whatever you can... it's not that you are "pushing" something. remember, God helps those who helps themselves. you have been waiting a long, long time...

so try it... you have nothing to lose, and you can find solace in the idea that at least you are doing everything you can.

to contact your Congressmen & Senators... i think i just googled something like "Congressmen [your state]" and usually your state has a website of all it's legislative representatives. if you know your Senator by name, just google him/her, and they will have a website. Then you call, you tell the assistant about your situation, and they will tell you how to continue, and what to do for a release form. you may have to contact a bunch of them because some are not interested in helping with immigration issues. i did not receive much advice from my different Congressmen's offices, but one of my Senators was happy to get involved. don't give up and don't be dissuaded by crabby assistants who say "there's nothing we can do." you just want to make an inquiry since it's been so long, and your hubbie has gone to the consulate 3 times.

good luck to you. you are doing the right thing, and you have been very patient.

i hope you receive some good news soon, (F)(F)

Ditto. Google their name. Call or e-mail them (or both) On my states Senators website, there was a place to send them an e-mail with my question/problem. I typed them an e-mail at 10:30 on a Thursday night and they called me by 8:30 the following morning. Not the same with the Congressman - it took them a week. I wish you so muck luck!!!!!

Tammy,

My senators were very unresponsive - but CA is a big state, full of immigrants. My congressperson's office (immigrant liason) was nice, although not so helpful. She inquired directly with the consulate a few times during our 11 month wait and got the same response - "under going Admin Processing, the petitioner will be contacted when complete".

I don't think this inquiry really helped, but at least the consulate knew that someone in the US govt was interested in the case. And since our consulate would not response to me directly, I appreciated they responded to her.

I suggest you get in touch this week and yes, you will have to fax back a release.

Be strong!

Ann

Hi Tammy, first of all my heart is w/you and you have been an amazing source of strength here. I involved my senator from the beginning, and like others have said I emailed both and one responded w/a blanket statement the other sent a release and this is required for any inquiries to be made on your behalf. My senator has been wonderful and has been there from the beginning.

I can say for me, I have found it helpful to have the senator there....you will know what is best for you, however at 8 months of AP - I can't see how it can hurt you to contact ur senator......

I wish you the best, (((HUGS))) Melinda
