when all is said and done the clinton campaign can look back at this day and how florida and michigan being split instead of counted correctly was how the campaign was lost.
got math

it doesn't matter now. the math could have been extended without either of them getting the number for the nomination and they would have had to argue their cases at the convention. the dnc choice today ended hillary's campaign effectively without having to go all the way to the convention to hear arguing cases.

Nonsense. Even with the full delegations seated with full votes, Hillary wouldn't have been able to catch up on the pledged delegates. It was a foregone conclusion. All that happened today is the stating of the obvious: Obama has won more delegates than any other contender and there's no turning the tide on that result with the three contests that are left.

Fact: while obama did have more delegates neither candidate had the required amount for the nomination.

Fact: FL & MI votes were not correctly appropriated do to dnc splitting them.

everything beyond this day doesn't matter unless some strange twist comes into play. the split keeps the race nearly the same as before as if the votes in either state didn't matter. obama will certainly get the amount needed to achieve the nomination. after this may the democrats unite instead of remaining split.

Fact: FL was apportioned according to the vote. MI couldn't be because there was no actual choice for the voters on the ballot.

Fact: Hillary was too far behind at this point to catch up any which way you slice it.

Fact: Even with full votes, Obama would have been able to reach the number.

Do your math.

that would have remained to be seen but now he will reach that number regardless.

Olivia, the only number required is to have to majority of delegates - whatever that number may be. The number of 2,026 was the majority before FL and MI but the number has moved up. Obama will have won the majority of the delegates after June 3rd which is why he deserves the nomination...it's as simple as that. If you were to compare this to McCain's delegate count, you'd see that he won by an amazingly small number of the total delegates, but nobody's questioning the legitimacy of his presumed nomination.

ok so it's whoever reaches the required number of delegates during the primary and if neither do then it's whoever has the most wins. i got it now.

Hmmmmm! vote tampering by the DNC?

You're a bit slow on the uptake. There wasn't a vote to be tampered with. FL and MI did not have a delegation to elect. The DNC rules this way prior to the voting taking place and the campaigns agreed on that measure. Only one campaign decided to change course after the game was played which necessitated the compromise that was reached today. There's no tampering anywhere.

The DNC didnt divide up the delegates the way they wanted? This look familiar!
