Well both of those comments could explain a lot, but its not our place to diagnose anyone here unless it comes from self diagnosis or from blatant over representation of oneself.

I apologize if any of my comments have been a little too dense to follow, even though the more concentrated may catch on by taking a longer moment to comprehend.

I think I realized where the tension occurs for a lot of discussions in the OT section of this forum. When I post something it is usually my personal opinion. I would say 99.9% of the time. An opinion being a personal view. Basically a statement without any grounds or certainty. Neither right or wrong etc.

Whereas people like you and #6 seem to believe that my, and others, posts are claiming to be a matter of fact. Which is definitely not the case unless specifically implied.

After all opinions is what a forum is all about.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I'm betting though that you guys really could sit in a pub, have a few pints, talk about the same ####### and not resort to insults.

Yes, that could happen, sister. And you can come along.

To address BY's concerns though... forum or not... one owns one's comments and what one says implies what one thinks, at the minimum. When we make claims, when not of our own thinking, we should disclaim to disavow any expertise from what we say, and 6 does it when necessary.

When we make statements without disclaimers or grammatical devices to clarify them as statements not of our own position, then it is the same as making the statement in our own point of view. That is logical enough.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

You are probably right. A lot of the tension is due to not being able to see and interact with one another.

For me personally I do not have the patience to explain things thoroughly online.

Then frankly you should ask yourself why spend any time posting anything online if sticking by your own comments is not as straightforward as it could be?

We can release that tension by agreeing to stop any ridiculous animosities and actually sticking to topics at hand. After all, forums do have the intent of having structure.

Being in a public forum one would think that, by default, all posts are merely opinion unless stated otherwise. So if I, for example, said I don't like the cold, run-down, has been, northern cities; that is my opinion and does not constitute research or fact. So why make it out as if I, or anyone, is claiming it is a matter of fact. And then attacking it..

Have you noticed how I almost never rebut or ridicule your posts unless I am trying to being a smart ###. This is no coincidence maviwaro. But is the case because I always thought most people in a public forum knew that a post is basically an intangible opinion.

To be honest... cause and effect tends to explain quite a lot. What one likes or dislikes flourishes in one's statements of opinions, and stating any preference is stating a personal fact. Stating factual information is completely different- it is claiming something as accurate AND correct based on personal knowledge of the information being stated. Hence arbitrary disclaimers become necessary when using points of view and factual information in the same discussion.

As for personality... well, there is style. And you have yours.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

There's nothing wrong with opinions, but when they run into broad-brush generalisations, it helps to at least acknowledge the limitations of those views.

Hence I vehemently disagree with you on the issue of race (or indeed the state of modern youth and parenting) because you always seem to base your characterisations on flawed stereotypes; insisting that a few youtube videos and extreme news stories bear out your point.
