My fiance passed the petition to USCIS last 2nd week of April. While waiting I need to gather my requirements, one of the requirements is to have a Police Clearance from Japan cuz I had worked there for one and a half year. And filing a Police Clearance will need a REQUEST LETTER FROM THE USEM. So, I called USEM and they said that I can use my "packet" instead of the REQUEST LETTER. But I can't wait until my packet arrives cuz processing the Police clearance will take 2-3 months. So I need to file before my packet arrives. My problem now is how to convince USEM so that they will give me the request letter. Does anyone of you here has the same situation before? I need your advice....I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Anna

Shirley and I have not completed the process yet, so I can not say for certain, but it seems that many of the countries are requiring a letter from the USE stating the reason the clearance is required before providing a police clearance. Perhaps printing the responses you get here may assist the USE in recognizing our need for their assistance in that matter.

For us, Shirley must obtain clearance from both Hong Kong and Singapore. I contacted a VJ'er a while back who had obtained a clearance (Certificate of No Criminal Conviction) in Singapore who reported that they simply provided proof of their application for fiancée visa and copy of the posted requirements and were able to get it. However, I think things changed because the Singapore police website just added a note on the application requirements for CNCC "Documentary proof from the immigration authority requiring the certificate. (A print out of the application requirements is not acceptable.) " The parenthetical part was added in just the last two weeks. I doesn't directly state the need for a letter but seems to indicate some documentation from USE directly stating it is needed for the specific individual.

the Hong Kong Police directly told Shirley she would need a letter from USE with her name on it and that they would only send it directly to the USE....even though the directions for Shirley are to bring it with her to the interview.

I am suggesting to her, when she returns to Phil to go to the USE and request letters for both Singapore and Hong Kong police clearance before her interview....not sure if they will give it to her or not. But worth a try to save time.

I did speak with an officer at USE Manila who basically said, others have gotten the clearance from HK without a letter so she should be able to. She tried but the Hong Kong police were very adamant about the requirements. The USE office did report that when she has the interview she could get such a letter......but then of course she will probably need to wait until the clearance comes through after her approval at the interview (assuming approval of course)....

If more people go to the USE and repeatedly report this requirement for a letter maybe the USE will start mailing it with the Packet they send and at least give us a "head start" on getting the clearances rather than having to wait till the interview just to start the process to get them.....Just a thought. Difficult for me to do from here in CA USA!.

Yes, you are right. Hopefully they will realize that a lot of applicants are having problem about the POLICE CLEARANCE thing. Hope they will find way for solve this. It could be better if they just send through emails and that can save time. Well for now all we have to do is wait and pray.

By the way my fiance is from CA too. Which part of CA are you?

Thanks,

Anna

hi,

Wow..I don't know about that' (Request letter from the USEM)

I've been work in taiwan for more than five years but i don't have a problem about getting it..I already filled and request in the MECO..So i have to wait for two months and the validity is one year..Im still waiting for my noa2 (hopefully this month of june) I expect to recieve my police clearance this coming July 26 ..I was just asking why you need the request form from the USEM? Mine was too easy to file from the Meco.
